Tomlyn Nutri-Stat, Nutritional Gel for Dogs and Cats, 4.25 oz

We have two small dogs and ever since they were first seen by their veterinarian, he recommended keeping a tube of this highly nutritious, high calorie product on hand for them. When you have small dogs which weigh under 12 pounds each, a day of not eating could turn into a crisis quickly. We have used it over the years when either dog was acting finicky about their food or having an off day and didn't want to eat as much as normal. This product is very tasty to them and they have never refused it. We give them a one inch long line of the gel on our finger tip as their vet recommended. It is high in calories to sustain them until we can get them in to see the vet or it will see them through a short period of pickiness about their food. Often, it they are acting picky, a single dose of the gel kick starts their appetite and they return to eating normally. We have also given it to them after surgeries or when they are stressed during traveling. We make sure to keep a tube readily available in our kitchen drawer that has their other medicines and we always have a tube with us when we travel with our dogs. For us, this product is an actual life saver for our dogs. One of them is much more nervous than the other and I couldn't imagine how we could get by without this product. She stresses over many things and this gel is what get her back to a state where she will eat like she is supposed to. We won't try other brands even if they are less expensive. This is what works for our girls and we will continue to use it as long as we have small dogs as pets. I highly recommend it if you are the owners of small dogs. This is peace of mind in a tube.

This is a gift from kitty heaven. My cat had stopped eating and was throwing up everything. Even touching her was making her gag. She had a terrible cough, and I thought she might have asthma with a secondary infection of some kind. Nope. The dreaded news that I still can't quite process: cancer. She has lung cancer that has spread to her esophagus. It's constricting her ability to swallow, my poor little baby. She has not seemed to be in pain, but the vet said she will starve to death if I don't euthanize her first. She has lost 5 pounds in 6 months. That's A LOT. Luckily, she was a chubby cat, so she had a little extra to spare, but she is scrawny now, and I feel my heart break just looking at her. The vet gave me anti-nausea meds, which I switch out with Pepcid AC (2.5mg) every other day. That keeps her from vomiting, but the killer has been getting her to swallow ANYTHING that isn't water or baby food. She immediately regurgitates anything solid before it even passes her esophagus. And if I try to put pills in her food, it's always hit or miss as to whether she'll eat it. If I dissolve things in water and syringe-feed it, she won't take it if the flavor is bad. So, this high-calorie nutritional supplement has been a double miracle! She likes the flavor and will eat a little every day, which I hope is helping put a bit of weight back on her, and the real HUGE bonus for me is that I can get a tiny crushed up pill for nausea down with it, so she gets her most important pill of the day in every morning now. God, thank you for making this product! It's such a simple little thing, but it makes her feel better, and it makes me so very grateful that I found it. If your cat doesn't like the flavor, I noticed it has fish oil in it. I tasted it, and cannot taste the fish oil, so perhaps rolling it in feline granules or dropping a bit of fish oil or maybe a smidge of petromalt (not enough to make a difference), would make it more palatable. I am just thankful my kitty likes it. She is going to have a little longer, and that little extra time is going to be a lot happier because of this product.

My miniature poodle has been taking this daily for years and is now over 18 with only vet visits for shots. I can't say her long life and lack of vet bills is all due to this supplement but it has not hurt.

Hard to administer. They seem to like the flavor but it's getting it in their mouth. I've tried a baby spoon, putting it on their paw, my finger and straight from the tube. I wind up scratched and that had never happened before. I will not reorder. Sorry. There's been a serious change of heart ❤️ My sweet Babushka actually misses her vitamins! I wondered why she would sit in the kitchen and star at the fridge. She was waiting for her vitamins! I had a tiny bit left so squeezed a tiny bit and put it on the top of my finger. It was always a marathon catching her, whew! This time it was a piece of cake. So here I am editing my previous review and saying if Babushka loves it then I do too and I'll continue getting her this that has now become her treat!

Consistency of molasses and not liked by my geriatric cat. Other teenage one seems interested... due to FOMO... but he is a FAFO monkey cat ... first brown tabby I've ever had, and I'm addicted. Try adopting one!

My cat is 18 years and a half old and he is getting be very very skinny cause he doesn’t eat but it’s a little bit all day long and he actually loves this stuff. He waits every morning and eats it no hesitation it’s great if you have a picky eater, you need to get this.

I know from previous experience that this stuff can literally save a cat or dog's life or at least keep them hanging on until they improve with meds recommended by your veterinarian. Unfortunately I did not get to find out this time if it would have saved my cat. I immediately ordered it when I knew she needed it and it was promised to be there within 2 days. Two days came and went with it promised in another 2 days. And then you guessed it another two days. I didn't get it for 8 days after being ordered and sadly my cat did die. Had this been around to help boost her calorie content perhaps the story ending would have been different. I do still think it's a good product.

I went out on a limb and bought this as an "add on" item. I have bought four tubes since! I am so happy that I tried this. I remembered my childhood pet's breeder recommending it for him as a puppy, because he couldn't eat enough to keep up with the rate he was growing! Now, over twenty years later, I am using it to supplement my 12 year old dog's "heart diet." Over Christmas, his low level, manageable heart failure got much worse, requiring hospitalization and a lot of new meds. Afterwards, he lost his appetite completely. I had to hand feed him to get him to eat at all. He lost 1/5th of his body weight in a month. My vet proscribed Prescription "HD" dog food, made specifically for dogs in heart failure. It claimed to be irresistable to dogs, and to an extent it is. However, he was still not eating enough to gain any weight back. The moment I opened the tube of Tomlyn he got interested. It took less than a minute for him to decide he loved it and ask for more! When his appetite is especially low, I've found that giving him a quarter dose of this stuff stimulates his appetite. Not only does this supplement his diet, it inspires him to eat as well. I do have to limit the quantity he consumes according to the instructions though. It seems to cause some tummy distress (gas) when he injests more than the recommended amount. I recommend this to anyone with a pet with severely decreased appetite.

My cat wouldn’t eat it but that’s just my experience

We used this for the first time a year ago when we had a long road trip to Nova Scotia with a 2 year old, one year old and a pup just recently spayed; yorkies. This helped incredibly as their appetite was affected by this trip and the setteling times (moved to two rentals and still waiting for our home to be built) In the last few months we have been using a tiny amount with 2 of our pups first thing in the morning as they now seem to throw up yellow bile shortly after they wake up or shortly after they smell their food. This nutri-stat has been a God Send. A tiny amount to put a little something in their empty tummy has made a HUGE difference. No yellow bile and soon after they are ready to eat. We just recently ordered our second one before it went out of stock again.

This used to be the ONLY thing my cat would enjoy between meals (he’s suffering with cancer that uses up a ton of calories), and it used to be expensive to buy and not always available… but then it more than DOUBLED in price so regardless of how much my cat loves it I can’t justify getting it for him 😢 Since he’s not been able to get it (he point blank refuses anything else!!) he’s been losing weight, which isn’t great 😕 I would love to give this product 5 stars but I just can’t at this price

Yes, this product arrived on time and was not damaged in any way. I am not able to try the product at this time, as I do not have my puppy yet. I am just trying to get everything I will need to take proper care of her. I will update this product on a later date. Thank you!

I had high hopes for this product after reading customer reviews however my dog seemed absolutely repulsed by it. I thought perhaps it was because he has been a bit under the weather recently and off his food however when I tried it with my other two dogs one of which would eat absolutely anything their reactions were exactly the same. It's an expensive mistake as it will be going straight in the bin!
