Great gadget that works!
I've always had wide feet but it has become worse as I've aged and developed bunions. I ordered multiple pairs of xx-wide boots on Amazon- some of the reviews even complained that one pair was TOO wide- but they were all uncomfortable for me. Last year I took a new pair of snow boots to a shoe repair shop and paid $14 to have them professionally stretched, but I didn't want to have to pay that amount for all of my shoes. After reading comments for different boot stretchers I picked this one for price and positive reviews and I'm glad I did. I followed other people's advice and made my own shoe spray from equal parts of water and alcohol, sprayed the inside of suede boots, and left the stretchers in for 48 hours. Afterwards the boots were wide enough to accommodate my width. The stretcher and bunion plugs are easy enough to use, and the top piece to stretch the depth is a little difficult, but I inserted the stretcher first and then slid the top piece in afterwards. I've already stretched a second pair of boots and plan to use this on sneakers and some shoes as well. Highly recommend!

Be patient in putting them in right and with possibly having to stretch more than once.
These stretchers work very well for both boots and shoes. I love that you get a set not just one. That kept me from buying any for a while. Great price. I've hung onto a couple pairs of boots for a few years because I couldn't bare to sell or give them away... so glad I did/didn't. I had a big toe joint replacement in my right foot, do to that some of my heals are a bit snug on that foot. NO LONGER! :) The stretchers make some of my pointed toe heals fit a lot more comfortably. 99% of my shoes are heals. I didn't buy the shoe stretcher spray. I only buy leather or suede, ( I do have a couple pairs of quality fabric shoes.) so I use a product called Snow Seal for the leather, a suede protector for the suede and Scotch Guard for the fabric... These work great and kill two birds with one stone. Nothing I use discolors anything. Helpful hints... use the cardboard inserts that come with your shoes/boots in addition to the stretchers to help keep the stretchers from misshaping the shoes/boots. I also used some old socks over the stretchers for the same purpose. (Alone and together with the inserts.) I'm confident that I'll get many years of use out of theses... my feet are already thanking me. BIG :)

Pretty decent, and probably could have replaced my original shoe stretchers as well
I own flat shoe stretchers and high heel shoe stretchers. I think this model could possibly have replaced the other two, if only I had them first. Like all plastic/metal combos, I am gentle and only increase the tightness a half turn every evening, but I am on my third pair of boots/shoes with good success. I am particularly happy with the vamp stretcher since that has been a section that historically was difficult to stretch. Now if only they made the leg stretching portion! The only model I can find for that is $200. This, for what it is, will pay for itself by the first or second pair of shoes/boots that you stretch.

Worked for me
I recently purchased a pair of Brand Name Boots in my size but purchased them new from a seller on ebay. I could have returned them but then would have had to pay for the shipping back. I knew that these boots ran narrow but had not realized just how much. When I got them home, I could get my foot in but that was about all. Very Very tight. In thinner socks still too tight for comfort. So I got these stretchers and after leaving them in for 24 hours noticed a big difference. Left them in even longer and expanded the width even more and I was able to wear the boots quiet comfortably with the thinner socks all day without problem. This worked without any spray to the inside of the boot. I keep them in the boots when I am not wearing just as a precaution so the boots don't go back to their original narrowness but that is just me. I would recommend these stretchers to anyone who has shoes or boots that need a little extra width.

Takes a while
Itโs easy to use, Ive had them in my boots for over 2 weeks now and the instructions said for at least 24 hrs anyways my boots didnโt seem like they stretched at all to so that is why 3stars. Will try a little longer and see if that helps.

Mind: blown
When I spent $700 on a pair of Alexander Wang boots, it was because they were the ideal shoes for me. I have large feet for a woman (11 US/41 or 42 EU) and Iโd spent years looking for boots with this precise, leg-flattering construction. They came in the mail and I tried them on immediately, but I found that I couldnโt get the zippers up. I was heartbroken. So I took a flier, bought this product and some leather stretching spray. 1) I covered the rounded end of this stretcher with a sock to protect the interior leather. 2) I sprayed inside the bootโs shaft, instep and vamp with leather stretching spray. 3) Then I placed the sock covered foot of the stretcher into my boots and cranked it out wide enough to safely yet effectively stretch the leather (with the zippers closed/pulled up). 4) The boots sat this way for about 26 hours. When I tried them on again, it was as if the boots were made by a cobbler to fit my precise specs. I canโt believe this cheapo Chinese plastic thing worked so well, particularly on designer boots with zippers. Outstanding.

Can't believe I waited so long
I've stretched my new Firebird boots, as well as my less new Doc Martens. It took a few tries to stretch to my desiring. The instructions recommend just a few turns, but I realized I needed more than a few, esp. on all my right boots, as I have a high arch and those shoes are always tighter around the top of my foot. After leaving the stretchers on for a few days I could definitely see a difference. I can't believe I have gone all this time without a boot stretcher, as it's easier than stretching them out by wearing, which has always made for a few miserable days of pain. While these are made for boots, they can also stretch shoes (I have a pair of Dansko's that need a tad stretching)--they just stick out long on the top. I like the plastic thingamabog that keeps the taller boots upright, although most of my boots don't need that device. Great buy and I plan to be using on most of my new shoe buys.

Best investment for someone who likes shoes!
I bought a pair of my dream boots on eBay and did not realize that they were narrow. They were discontinued soooo I knew it would be near impossible to find another. Amazon to the rescue, I looked at a few different boot stretchers and these were the best bang for my buck so I ordered them and put them to the test. I made a little diy stretcher spray with about 3 parts water one part alcohol and sprayed on the inside (donโt mess up the outside of your shoes) and put these babies in for about 48 hours turning a few extra turns when I thought about it. They worked perfectly! I ordered another pair of shoes and I guess my feet are extra swollen lately because they were snug too, just threw in these boot stretchers after a few sprays of my homemade concoction and I was good to go. You can put the buttons on targeted areas to stretch a lil more and the black things are a little tricky but just put the stretcher in first and then add them on top or soak a napkin with your stretcher spray and wrap it around the boot stretcher and the other piece to insert and stretch on top (where your laces would be). I highly recommend, these will be used for a lifetime and are nice and sturdy.

Does what it should!
Not sure the extra long plastic tool it for? And the flat bits which go on the top? Very misleading pictures as it looks like they fit on, but they don't. But the actual stretcher works on my DMs which are too narrow at the top of my toes. Left for 48 hours with spray and viola! It works! And you get two of them so you can do both boots at the same time!

Recommend.
They work as advertised. Luckily did not lose any parts in the shipment as the box was broken at one end when received by the delivery company.

Truly great product at a good price,
These stretchers really work. I have bunions and usually have to pay to stretch my boots even with wide width. These saved me a ton of money and I can leave them in my boots as long ad I want to. Highly recommended.
