Less Is More
Visually stimulating and intellectually insightful. My favorite feature, however, is the stitching LOL. My architecture professor always said the details drive the design, no matter how small. 10/10 recommend ๐๐ป

Ellen Lupton cannot produce a bad book. The content and design of this book did not let down! It is wonderfully written and edited and the design/layout overall is inspiring in and of itself. Definitely a must-have for any art inclined reader!

Smudges and marks
I feel like these books are meant to be interactive but show pieces - both copies I received had black marks and smudges everywhere. Great for learning but lame for designers who care about aesthetics

Small print, postage stamp sized examples, all theory, very little usable ideas
You need a magnifing glass to read the small print. This book is all theory with single postage stamp sized example of a principle the author spent five pages of this painfull small print to make vague points.

An essential read if you want something more than just historical facts about the Bauhaus.
This collection of essays provides a refreshing look at what the Bauhaus means for contemporary design, as well as an interesting look at some possible influences that informed the movement. The book itself is an exercise that portraits the design principles valued by the bauhaus movement (typographically, from a grid perspective, etc.) Definitely a must-have if you love this piece of Design history.

Book looks used
I just Opened the box took the book out paid $40 plus tax for a very small hardcover book and the front has damag to it. This is ridiculous. It looks like a used book !!!! Sadly, this was a Christmas present might send it back.
