approachable recipes for the pre-teen and teen set
This book gets a thumbs up from my two. It's a serious cookbook for kids, not dumbing down important aspects of cooking. It turns everyday food into approachable recipes for the pre-teen and teen set. It includes recipes for all three daily meals, and also some good sections on baking, food safety, organizing, how to use a knife, and other essential kitchen skills. I especially like the tips throughout of what to add or substitute. I do wish recipes had at least some nutritional info. But if they can start to cook food from scratch, we're ahead of the game compared to prepared and preserved options. The adventurous can try a souffle at the end of the book, which must be a nod to the author's popular blog, Souffle Bombay. It took a few months, but my kiddos started asking if they could make some of the recipes, and I couldn't get out of the kitchen fast enough. Yes, please! Have fun in there!

Better than expected
Nice book. Got this for my autistic son who is 17, he takes nutrition classes, buuut is still a bit lost on what most kitchen cooking utensils r called or how they work. As well as a bit lost in measurements. This book is perfect for him as it has a step by step guide on how to prepare ones area for cooking, how to clean after, aaand how to properly measure. Because its made for kids and not teens, the recipes are simpler to follow, so it stresses him less.I was so impressed that im thinking of getting their other one for preschoolers.

Nice book
Bought for my 10 year old as a Christmas gift. She loves being in the kitchen, and is pretty capable but not experienced enough to “wing it” yet. She was very excited to have her own cookbooks (got this and another similar one). Very impressed that it isn’t babyish with “peanut butter & jelly” or “pizza bagels”, but has regular family style meals. Not many pics, as others have said, but I found that to be a “plus”. My daughter would likely get discouraged if what she cooked didn’t look EXACTLY like the picture, even if it tasted delicious.

great kids cookbook!
My 9 year old twins are really enjoying this cookbook. They still need a bit of help completing some of them, as they are new to working in the kitchen, but they are excited to learn and the recipes are well written and easy to understand. The book has a lot of interesting recipes. Not just boring "kid food". It also includes some good instruction in the first few chapters. So far the boys made two main dishes and both were delicious. They are looking forward to making a bunch more of them! My only criticism is that there is not a picture of each recipe in the book which would have been nice.

Kids cook book options
Ideas in the book are fineThe quality is average, thin pages, stuck together and rough paper.Would not give as a gift, but good to have at my house when grandkids come over
