Disappointed, but maybe my fault?
I love sea monkeys so much. I find them a very nostalgic part of childhood and wanted to get my kids hooked into them also. Mine came damaged but still usable and they did not hatch. Not a single one! I’ve never had that happen before. I’m not sure if it’s related to the time of year or just a bad batch? Nonetheless, I am disappointed. But rest assured, sea monkeys are awesome and if your batch takes off, they are so fun and simple to take care of. EDIT: Updating review from 4 to 5 stars - Happy to report that my sea monkeys hatched out of nowhere 2 weeks after adding the eggs! I didn’t do anything other than leave the water chilling in the same spot for two weeks. I almost considered dumping and trying again a few days prior to seeing some activity, so I’m very glad I didn’t lol. So far, we only have 3 tiny little guys, but they’re doing well. So if you think your eggs are a bust, just give it a little more time! It does say in the pamphlet that it can take up to 3 weeks for all eggs to hatch, but I didn’t expect that I wouldn’t have a single hatch until 2 weeks. Nonetheless, I am pleased! I’m thinking most people who reported no hatching just didn’t give it enough time or provide the best conditions.

Initial results are very promising!
No damage to contents. Packets #1 and #2 sealed and dry. I haven't opened #3 yet. I bought a small in-tank heater, add 12oz of regular spring (not mineral) water, and waited until it was heated to 78F. I added packet #1, and inserted a small aerator to mix in the contents. Over a 24hr period, I saw no early shrimp activity though I did see some eggs. After 24Hrs of adding packet #1, I added packet #2 and again aerated with the device I used earlier. After about 12hrs I checked and saw some activity! After 24 hrs, more activity! I once again aerated. I don't plan to aerate for a bit. I'll let them grow some. In addition to the in-tank heater, I have the tank sitting under some timed grow lights to stimulate algae growth. I had initially intended to wait for awhile, after adding the spring water, but before adding any packets, to have some algae already available, but then I wondered if adding the salt would cause them problems. I decided I would rather algae establish in the environment it will exist in. Also, I just got impatient! 😂 As it stands thus far, this product and seller have provided and fun and reliable product. All of the issues I have read elsewhere, were nowhere to be found here. If you are interested in growing pet, hybridized, brine shrimp, this is a great option, IMHO. I would strongly suggest you get a very small in-tank heater, if your ambient temps aren't going to be a steady mid-70s, and get a small plant grow light on a timer, either way. If you can get a healthy algae colony going, you can really cut back on explicit packet feeding, plus the living algae will be more nutritious. At that point, you'll mostly need to just stay on top of water re-fills. Regarding water, for the love-a-Mike, please don't use tap! Just get some bottled natural spring water from your local grocer, or, at worst, some distilled water. You're only adding a couple of ounces per re-fill so even a quart or liter would last for some time. So, all in all you're probably looking at the cost of this tank plus small heater and small plant grow light. And if you have a low to mid 70s stable ambient temperature, you could do without the heater. I will likely update in a week or two. UPDATE: I'd say a good 15 or so made it to young adulthood. I moved them to a prepared .5gallon tank, with heater and bubble stone. It had some algae and some previously transferred bit of water from this original tank. Now, about 10 days after move, only a couple have passed, and the rest have been doing nothing but swimming, eating and making bebes! A few unhatched eggs from the initial setup hatched upon transfer to the larger tank. They are now 1/4-1/3". And there are scads of those super small pin-points swimming around. I'll know in a week or two if the larger volume and existence of algae (plus the packet food) is enough to allow some to grow further. If I end up with "Loads O' Monkeys", i'll update with a photo.

Be patient…they are resilient!
I bought this one year ago for my son, but this soon became mine! We used distilled water and prepped it with packet 1. The following day I emptied in the eggs, packet 2 into the little tank. Several days later we saw swimming specks. And that’s when we began to feed them on a weekly schedule. They grew quickly over the next couple weeks. We kept them near a window but never in direct sunlight, we never used a bubble wand or a little heater or light. Also algae never grew for some reason. Majority of the little guys only lasted a month or two, we didn’t remove their bodies. Two of them outlived the others to about 4 or 5 months, it was cool watching them swimming around, sometimes attached to each other or what seem like chasing each other. It was a cold winter and I had believed that had an impact on their lifespan, HOWEVER, after the last two died, I placed the tank (still containing the dirty water and all the little decomposed dead bodies) in my kitchen window while I debated either buying more eggs or a whole new kit with new tank. Well, several weeks later I noticed algae growing and…new…babies! Something to note is that the weather was still as cold as before, but the difference in my case was placing it in different window which had direct sunlight. I think that is what ultimately created the perfect environment for any remaining eggs to hatch and the algae to grow like a lawn. Take a look at the video, there are different sizes swimming around, I feel like they are really flourishing here. I leave the tank in the same new window which gets about 3-4 hours of direct sunlight daily and still feed them on a once a week schedule. It’s been about 3 months and they seem happy!

Fun Guys
Things were going great until inexplicably, they all vanished. Fun while it lasted though.

Loved these since I was a kid
Fun as always. I had these as a kid and have had several tanks since I was a kid. The instruction book is a little different from way back when... a little more rooted in science and a little less in fancy (although those old instruction books had a lot in them!). Overall, it's very easy to set up a tank and get it going - you just have to be patient. Eggs hatch at different rates and sea monkeys will have babies, so sometimes you might think you've only got two adults out of the deal, but if you're patient (and follow directions closely) you'll soon have a tank of all different ages swimming around. It looks nice - I keep it on a windowsill in the kitchen by the sink. Plastic. Has little magnifying lenses built into the side. Overall fun.

Very few eggs
Egg pouch does not have as many eggs as it used to. I had two hatch, given it got cold at night, and then maybe another two within a month. Ordered separately a new egg pouch, so many more eggs in the egg pouch ordered separately, over 20 hatched. I would not get this tank again, or make sure to also order the eggs separately.

It failed twice in a row
I first bought Sea Monkeys around 1994 and they lived for many months and even had their own eggs. I have bought more Sea Monkeys over the years and always succeeded in keeping them alive for a long time. Then I bought this set on Amazon. (I was a little worried about the negative reviews but figured that many people had not followed the instructions correctly.) I followed all the instructions to the letter. The eggs hatched but died within 3 or 4 days. So I contacted Sea Monkey and they told me that some companies are selling old batches of eggs. They wanted me to wait for 3 weeks to see if any Sea Monkeys would hatch. After 3 weeks I contacted them saying that none of them hatched and after a couple more weeks they mailed me a new set of eggs. Again, I followed all the instructions perfectly and I saw a bunch of Sea Monkeys within minutes of adding the eggs to the treated water. Then 3 or 4 days later they were all gone. I don't know if they changed something or perhaps they are shipping old batches but I would not recommend these.

Terrible
Just buy the £10 version. The picture is deceiving and it’s lucky to stand 10cm high. £43 for this product is a joke

So cool!
Purchased as a gift for my 10 year old daughter. She was so thrilled and as was I to share a childhood nostalgic memory with her! Surprised that they did hatch on the first attempt (took a few days and made sure to follow instructions carefully ie use bottled water) and they grew! What a cool experiment. We have some eggs left over as we didnt do the whole batch just in case but are excited for round 2. The first batch died after a couple months because my girl forgot to keep the water fresh and not get stagnant and possibly forgot to feed.. so this has been a great lesson in responsible pet care and the consequences of improper care. Hopefully we do better in the next batch! We'll worth the purchase!

Fun and educational kit for young kids and tweens
Any parent or aunt will know that it isn’t an easy task, finding gifts for young children whose interests change like the speed of wind. This was very well received by my nieces who are 8&9. A gift that the parents also support due to the educational angle. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. I’ll definitely buy it again for other kids in future.
