Perfect size to put on top of the ferment and heavy enough to hold it down. They are glass, so as long as you don’t drop and break them, they are very durable. I have tile floors and I’m not willing to drop one on purpose just to see how it performs under that kind of pressure, but for fermentation, they do their job very well. The design of the little grip on the top makes it easier to remove than no grip at all. The little idea box under the space to write my review is suggesting I say something about versatility and smell. Well, it’s glass, so it doesn’t smell. As for versatility, I suppose you could use one for a paperweight, but I would rather make another jar of fermented red cabbage. I would buy again.

I was lucky to pick the perfect weights I'm using for fermenting. The cabbage leaf barely worked. I needed real weights. I have used the wide mouth weight and it fits perfectly and weight is just right. The smooth, solid design top bottom and sides makes it so pieces of vege don't stick to it easily. PLUS you REALLY get 4 regular mouth weights and 4 wide mouth weights. The small are hard to find!!

They work great!

High quality, heavy, solid weights for fermenting in Mason jars. I got both sizes, the wide mouth size and the regular mouth size. The tamper is wood though and not dishwasher safe; I of course put it in the dishwasher anyway and now it's dry and brittle. I think they should offer this product with a dishwasher safe tamper for convenience. But these weights are great and I recommend them if you want to ferment.

Needed these for making my fermented veggies and they are perfect. Nice and solid. Easy to clean. Easy to use. The pinched in bits make them easy to grab when pulling them off your ferments.
