Melissa & Doug Alphabet Wooden Lacing Cards With Double-Sided Panels and Matching Laces

I bought this for my mother who has dementia. She loves this and can play with them for hours. It helps her mind working and thinking which I love.

Working with a Down Syndrome person to help with fine motor coordination. She enjoys these. Likes the colors and easy to use. The cards are colorful and sturdy. Highly recommend.

This was purchased for an adult. Mom was an excellent seamstress in her day but battling Parkinson’s and dementia. That didn’t stop her hands from “sewing” any piece of paper, cloth or napkin she had in her hand. Got her this and she seemed to really enjoy it. Did not require to fine of motor skills so she was able to “sew”.

These wooden lacing cards are so cute and well made — Melissa & Doug always delivers great quality. I bought them to help keep my toddler focused and busy during potty training, and they’ve been great for building fine motor skills and letter recognition. The only frustrating part? The box has no lid! After one use, the strings end up everywhere and there’s no easy way to store them neatly. A simple cover would’ve made this perfect. Still recommend it, just wish it was more storage-friendly.

Helps with motor skills and a fun way to learn the alphabet! The appearance is great and they are easy to handle and hold! The size is great, the performance is amazing, i wish i had these when i was a kid. The durability is amazing!

This is a high quality product unlike anything I have seen. Each wooden card has holes to lace through and one lace is provided for every card. The lace is long enough that there is usually extra at the end to make a loop for hanging (if a student only goes around the edges.) The back of each wooden card lists the name of the object and shows the alphabetical letter the item starts with. When you remove the cardboard spacers beneath the cards in the bottom of each storage hole, the storage spaces are deep enough, that one of the holes can also be used for the strings instead of just the middle section. My only complaint is that the wooden box has no lid and is therefore difficult to store. There is one object/card for each letter in the alphabet: a - apple b - butterfly c - car d - dog e - elephant f - fish g - gorilla h - hat i - insect j - jet k - kite l - lion m - moon n - nest o - octopus p - pumpkin q - quail r - ring s - sock t - turtle u - umbrella v - vase w - watermelon x - x-ray y - yarn z - zebra Overall, I bought this for use with my own son since we are homeschooling, but it may be a bit much for an only child. 26 is a lot of wooden cards and not many kids will have the patience or focus to do all of them - even if you only give them one a week, it is repetitious. I think the best use is to place it out as part of a literacy corner in a classroom where students can choose if they want to do them or not, which ones, and which color strings. BTW, after using them, the cards could be strung together to make a banner or turned into ornaments etc. The string and be attached and unattached so the cards are reusable even in those cases.

Great set of puzzles for keeping up ones dexterity

I ordered these lacing cards for my 3 year old great granddaughter to learn how to lace them which is a good way to teach a child about hand sewing. I enjoy sewing and would love to teach her what I am able to when she is a little older. They cards are very sturdy and brightly decorated with all types of animals and fish, etc. . Tonight she chose the Gorilla or monkey as she called it to work on. I would recommend this set for any young child.

Good sturdy quality and keeps the kid engaged and interested

The product is well made, recognizable objects, sturdy, large enough for little hands, colourful and fun. It comes with play ideas which is great. The only issue is the storage box does not have a lid.

I love it! Christmas Gift for my granddaughter . . . She will love it too !

Bought these for car trips and my 2 and 3 year old girls like to "sew" with them...keep their attention for some time!
