it is not a bad buy for controlling x
I used it for first time on Monday.I used it with a my Canon t3I and Sony handycam.Movement at each axis was fluid and responsive when the right amount of tension was applied. If you don't tighten it enough at vertical position, the weight of camera and lense pulls down.If too tight, then you can't move at all.You always trying to maintain a balance for quick moves or changes in angle. For the money, it is not a bad buy for controlling x,y, z axis. I would recommend it for beginners.

Fantastic Value Pan Tilt Head
Great value on this excellent three-way pan tilt head! Very smooth action, works well for photo or video. I find the pan head easier to use than ball heads. I can be assured that the camera is level with the horizon, and the panning action is very smooth. I love that the tilt head is marked in degrees of tilt from 0-90 degrees. A terrific value for such a useful and high quality item.

Good but some finish flaws
I really like the head. It has nice adjustability and is smooth. The only thing is it came with a couple small chips on the paint and grease was seeping out of some of the moving points

Mounts and locks well, panning or tilting is rocky ...
Mounts and locks well, panning or tilting is rocky but works locked down. Use for intended photo purposes, do not try to use as a fluid head for DSLR tracks.

Sturdy and nicely machined
I was pleased to see how nicely machined this was. Wow, I thought, there's really nothing like fine Italian workmanship...and then to my surprise I saw this gem was made in China. It's easily as well made as something from Manfrotto but the price is a bit easier to handle.
