Love this bowl!
Great bowl, i use it for rice, grains, washing fruits and veggies. I even use it for popcorn sometimes. It is nice that the holes are on the side. This makes it multifunctional.Note: holes are probably to big for anything smaller than short grain rice.

Cute and the perfect size for one person
It's cute, colorful, and does a perfect job. This size is ideal for my one-person household. I've used it to rinse rice before cooking, and it will also be great to wash fruits and vegetables.

Sturdy and an ingenious invention!
Can I give this 10 ⭐Stars?⭐ what an excellent ingenious invention. This is a must have in the kitchen. You can't beat the price. I want to buy a second one just so I can always have it till the day I die and pass it on to my children that's how wonderful this rice strainer is. It's not just for Rice I use it for draining my pasta or vegetables or anything that needs to be strained. So far I have cooked a pound and a half of pasta and it fit into the strainer with a lot of room to give . I could have cooked two lbs and it would have held the 2 lb of cooked pasta. So what's so great about it? Well besides the design that being, it's easy to use, you never get burned and you can use one hand even if you have arthritis or weak muscles. Your pasta or rice or whatever you're straining does not fall out. All the water gets quickly drained and you do not lose not one elbow not one noodle not one grain of rice not one orzo. It's so easy to use and on top of that you don't have any dirty dish water backing up into it because it is a solid piece and the drain holes are at the top on one side. As far as rice getting stuck in the holes yes, some rice may get stuck in the holes that's not a deal-breaker. It's so easy to release, just give it a little tap and the rice comes out. What more could you ask for from a strainer? Every thought and every good engineering idea has been placed into this one product. Yes I am raving about a strainer. I wish I had this all my life. I have always been grossed out by other strainers even if they have little feet on the bottom that water drains so quickly that it backs up but not with this little Gadget. Did I mention it's super easy to clean? Well it is! Not only that it is very sturdy not flimsy plastic at all very well made. I highly recommend you get yourself one before you're not able to.

Works great for medium and short grain rice
I bought this as an alternative to the Japanese rice washing bowl I already have, to avoid rice getting caught in the slits that are under the pouring spout. The existing one has holes at the bottom, which I really like, but has slits where you pour the rinsed rice into the rice cooker, for additional drainage. I got tired of having to use a kitchen tool to poke the rice out of those slits, every day. This new one is the small white 2.1Qt size. It works great for rinsing sushi rice or Cal Rose rice (short and medium grain), but I end up with the same problem as before if I use it to rinse jasmine rice, that is, the rice gets stuck in the holes (as opposed to slits) and I have to poke them out.So, just be aware that long thin rice grains may get stuck. I think I can solve this problem by drilling very small holes in the bottom of the bowl to allow water to flow through, but not big enough for a grain of rice. That way I can also use it to rinse jasmine rice and just pour the rinsed rice off the side of the bowl to avoid the sticking issue. If it's not one thing, it's another.Overall, I like this bowl and I'm finding additional uses for it, like rinsing veges for food prep. The small size makes it easy to store and handle, and since I use jasmine rice only once or twice a week, the stuck-in-the-hole thing is not a major issue.

Holes situated high enough to allow rice to soak
For long-grain rice, this little rice washer has been terrific! The holes are high enough for the rice to soak and/or to be swirled around in the water before straining and then the strainer can just be tilted to allow running water to wash over the rice and be strained through without losing any grains of rice. This rice washer/strainer is a good size for about two to three cups of rice to be washed. Also, this rice washer/strainer fits inside of other mixing bowls etc in the cupboard without taking up too much extra space at all. I have the green one and really enjoy using it and it makes me happy to have better rice. By the way, the rice is delicious and lighter tasting after bring washed clean of extra starch and random tiny discolored husks. Yum ! ................ NOTE: Long grain rice is what I use and it does not get stuck in the holes. Perhaps the type of rice is important regarding the holes in the strainer and rice getting or not getting stuck.
