Will the alarm sound if the beam is broken??

If it's wired to an alarm it should but, this is for a gate opener not an alarm.

Are the sensors facing each other? One set is used to sense the outside of the gate. Does another set need to be wired up to be inside the gate?

No, you only need one set. You put a sensor on a gate post on each side of the driveway facing each other. You only need one set because when the gates open it senses any movement into or out of the gate and stops the gate.

Would this sensor work with happy buy sliding gate opener ac600 1400 lbs? If so could I know how cause I’ve purchase it and it’s not working out
