As someone who hadn’t upgraded their 18650 charger in quite a while, this UMS2 feels like a huge step up. The design is sleek and compact, yet it delivers an impressive amount of information, showing not just charge status and level, but also how long it’s been charging, the total capacity charged, the rate, and even the battery’s health. It’s packed with intelligent features, automatically detecting battery size, type, and optimal voltage, and adjusting the charge rate based on power input. You can still fine-tune settings manually if you want, which is a nice touch if needed. The USB-C connection makes it more universally compatible (though note it doesn’t come with a wall plug), and the included 2-battery organizer case is a nice bonus. Charging speed is much faster and more consistent than my older LUC D2, and the spring-loaded battery bays are smooth and easy to adjust for different sizes. The wide compatibility with various battery types and material builds makes it a very versatile tool for home use. My only minor wish is for an auto-off feature, but otherwise it’s silent, efficient, and very well-designed, at a great price for the value. Hopefully it holds on just as long as my old charger as well! So far, I’m thoroughly impressed and would definitely recommend!

Works well and charges my batteries fast. I had an old charger from the same brand and it used to charge my batteries from 2-3 hours and this one can do it from 1.5-2 hours. I’m happy with my purchase, thanks!

My trusty ~10-year-old Nitecore i2 wouldn't fully charge two recently purchased Orbtronic 3400mAh 18650s. It got within one bar and stayed there. It's charged an older pair of these many times with no issues. I troubleshot but decided to upgrade to the UMS2 given the age of the i2. Charger electronics can degrade over time. Heat may have taken it's toll. After switching to the UMS2, it got the job done. USB-C charging, an LCD screen, battery health monitoring and if the advertising is correct, it can restore over-discharged batteries. The safety features are more advanced as well. Definitely read the manual for more information. I suggest downloading the PDF version from Nitecore's website so you can adjust font size. The manual that ships with the product has absurdly small print. My only disappointment with the UMS2 is that it doesn't have an on-board power supply. The i2 was a clean sheet, all-in-one design. Just plug it into a wall socket or surge protector and done. Because the UMS2 relies on USB power, it needs a good quality, safe, and well-designed wall wart to work optimally and safely. I’d suggest an Apple product or another reputable brand known for competent design, strict quality control, and robust safety standards. See the attached screenshot from Nitecore's online manual. Good baseline when shopping for wall warts. Happy customer, recommended product.

Amazing charger

I have been using their head lamps and chargers for well over 20 years, as a truck tech, pretty much all day in some cases, never has Nitecore failed me with head lamp or charger!!

Pros: Does what you'd expect. Charges your batteries. Provides all the information/data you need on your display. Provides quick charging* Cons: Display does NOT shut off. Contacted NiteCore and it is designed this way. Why would you make something that doesn't shut off went not "in use". I had a NiteCore D2 which after a minute the display would shut off... The USM2 as well as several other models just DIM went NOT in use. If you visit NiteCore's site for product details, keep an eye open for Dim's in the description. I find it bizarre that they've chosen to have a continuous display. Also, if you want to use Quick Charging feature, you'll have to spend an additional $10-20 more to get a quick charge 3.0 wall adapter. Otherwise you slow charge via UBS. Overall, it's been a disappointing experience costing me much more then a competitive model would have. And having the display ON ALL the time is annoying! Update: died in under a year with minimal use!
