I've worked my way all the way through to the end of the book. I actually liked the course quite a bit but was slightly disappointed because this book is not intended for self-training. The biggest drawback in that respect is that there is no answer key for the chapter review questions nor are there any solutions provided for the programming and design exercises at the end of each lesson.The lessons provide a nice tour of the Web Developer 2008 software and will provide you with enough expertise to create an interactive website using ASP.NET technology. It provides a good introduction to topics and technologies such as SQL Server, AJAX, standard controls, validation, authentication, IIS Server, and much more. There are a lot of hands on exercises and each chapter ends with practice problems.The only really bad part is finding an exam provider. Check Certiport.com before you get started if you are looking to take an exam and make sure that the exam is available in your area. MTA Certification Exams are only provided by a small number of academic institutions. Also before you begin, call the exam location to find the next exam date. In my case, the nearest testing center is over 40 miles away and the next exam date a full six months away. Bummer!

Product was delivered on time and is not a bad reference but for the very high price this very slim book (196 pages) is very overpriced.

Wish I found this book years ago. It's great for a refresher course though. But it is not just about front-end development because they talk about writing server side code with the ASP.NET framework. The examples are all done using Visual Studio 2008, so the book it a tad outdated. Microsoft has "retired" this exam so only buy the book for personal use. It's a good book to read before trying to take the 70-480 exam.

This is the only textbook available to study for the Web Development Fundamentals exam, so if you are studying for the exam, this is your only option. That said, I have purchased many college textbooks and IT certification books and this is without a close second the book containing the most errors. Additionally, if you have access to the instructor's guide (which is the only way to get answers to the questions at the end of the chapters), it is equally chock-full of errors.Honestly, this could have been a good book, and it does cover the test material in appropriate depth, but they are in serious need of an IT pro to go through the book in addition to the guy who checks for grammatical errors. It is ridiculous.

I ordered this book for a college class. This book is very poor at helping one understand the fundamentals of web development. You spend more time concentrating on typing in code than the principles behind the code. There are so many typos in this book our mentors have to compile and distribute an errata. I recommend seeking other resources for learning and using this book as a last option. If this is how Microsoft material is I'm not going to bother with it in the future.

Book smaller than I expect. It is written in a simple language, easy to understand. So far I liked it. It give you the basics of web development from the very beginning. It is a good start for new web developer. The exam itself is not available in prometric. It is available in few centers related to certiport.com. The price of the book is high because it is microsoft official training book. However the book is only 196 pages and paper pack.

I used this book exclusively for preparing for the MTA Web Fundamental Fundamentals exam. I, at first, thought the book did a good job at covering a wider variety of topics at an appropriate level, and it gave me the information necessary to score well on GMetrix practice exams. The problem arose when I took the actual exam. While scoring 90% when taking the practice exams, I failed miserably with a 53% on the actual exam.There is an obvious disconnect between the level of material presented in this book, the GMetrix practice tests, and the actual exam. This book, in itself, will NOT adequately prepare you for the exam,
