Lodge Scrubbing pad

I bought this as a joke for our roommate since he always destroys our scrub daddies trying to clean his cast iron pots and pans. At first, I was confused because it just looks like a chain wrapped around a silicone sponge, and I didn’t think it would clean that well, but it actually works great! Durable, easy to use, and far better than destroying scrub daddies lol

Very effective at cleaning giant messes in Cast Iron.

I saw this ad showing a person scouring their iron skillet with this thing. Yikes! The scrubbing pad works but...do you really want to scrape off the patina you work hard for that the pan be "non-stick?" Of course, not! I rarely, if ever have food stick to my iron pans because I maintain them. On that occasion, I prefer the "old way." >>> I allow the pan to cool then set into the sink. I put a 1/2 tsp of Dawn dishwashing liquid in the bottom without water. Next, heat a kettle of water to a boil. When boiled, pour the water in the pan and allow to sit for ten minutes. With a medium texture plastic kitchen brush, scrub over the surface. The pan is clean in seconds. Rinse well and completely dry. Put the pan on a medium-low heat burner, add a teaspoon of avocado oil to the bottom and wipe around the entire pan with a paper towel before the pan gets too hot. Heat until the oil just begins to smoke. Remove heat. When reasonably cool, wipe off the excess oil and completely cool prior to storing away.

I'm OK with this chain mail scrubber. It does a pretty decent enough job of scrubbing off the gunk that builds up on my cast iron skillet, but it doesn't quite get it all if the gunk is cooked on pretty well. Because it's silicone and stainless steel, the scrubber cleans off easily. Overall I find myself using the Lodge plastic scrapers more often than this scrubber, but it's serviceable.

Trying to scale stuff off my cast iron with those little brown guitar picks they supply just wasn’t cutting it. I bought a Lodge scrub brush but the head fell off. Didn’t work all that well anyhow. So I saw this thing somewhere on the internet and the reviews sounded good so I bought it. Not very expensive. It looks like something out of King Arthur’s personal chef’s kitchen or something. It’s pretty heavy with all the metal and the rubber stuff inside looks pretty substantial. I was curious to see how this thing worked and the opportunity arose not long after with a fine mess of fried egg bits. I like my eggs crispy. So the king’s scrubber went to work. It’s a weird feeling, dragging the chain mail over the pan. But yup, it worked great! And it gets into the corners much better than the broken brush ever did. As usual I was tempted to add a little Dawn to the operation but it would have been futile. The sponge part is just a hollow rubber rectangle with lots of holes. It looks kind of like a red pop tart. Inside a cage. Soap would do no good. Anyway the sponge metal scrubber thing worked like a charm. I highly recommend for your next egg breakfast.

I bought this over a year ago and it’s still in great shape, and I use this ALL. THE. TIME! All I have is cast iron pots and pans, so this sponge gets much use. I HIGHLY recommend

If you have cast iron pans you need this scrubbing pad. Let's face it, if get a little lazy in cleaning your cast iron pan and leave it overnight. It can get tough to remove bits of food that was left behind. Some hot water and this scrub pad will make this job a lot easier. I do not think you can go wrong with having this scrub pad to clean cast iron. Let's be real, if you are not using your cast iron pans correctly, meaning the seasoning has been stripped away or you have done something like using dish soap on the pan. This scrubber will help you clean up, but you need to season your pan again. Don't neglect your cast iron. And if you need good information on seasoning or caring for cast iron, go to the Lodge website. It is a great resource.

love this scrubber. it is a must have to clean cast iron!

I bought it on a good special as I wasn't sure how well it would clean. However, it is absolutely fantastic - it gets off all the bits quickly, doesn't affect the patina, and the silicone centre is both easy to hold/improves cleaning as it's easier to 'push' the mail into the dirtier parts as well as rinses really clean.

Works fantastic on cast iron pans and rinses clean easily. No more mess cleaning cast iron. Can't believe I went all those years ruining scrubbers, sponges and dish rags every time I used cast iron pans.
