Nu-Salt is my go-to salt substitute. It has zero sodium and is 100% pure potassium chloride, making its strength excellent for everyday use at every meal. I found that it actually takes less Nu-Salt than regular table salt to achieve the desired level of 'taste-saltiness' making it a very good buy. In humid conditions the potassium chloride tends to clump a bit, but a quick shake of the container breaks it up and it flows freely again. The 3-oz size is perfect for use at the table as well as in the kitchen. I love getting them in a six pack like this which makes running out much less likely. If you're on doctor's orders to reduce your sodium this is the ticket! Not only does Nu-Salt help you reduce your sodium intake, it also provides the necessary mineral potassium chloride which helps prevent muscle cramping and other health benefits. I've been using Nu-Salt for years, it's been a real benefit for me, and help keep my doctor happy too! 😊

After my husband's heartattack we had to find a sodium free salt. He tried alot of different brands but he chose this one. Been 7 years now and he's still using it. He think this is the best, so we keep a supply on hand

I've never used it as a salt substitute, however, although judging by the taste, you probably won't be thrilled with it unless you have a strict sodium-intake dietary restriction. This stuff is just incredible in the amount of potassium it packs in such a small amount. 1/6 teaspoon will give you a whopping 530mg of potassium. Because, by law, in the US, supplements are limited to 99mg per tablet, I didn't feel like spending all that money for pills and downing a bunch of them throughout the day (3500mg being the RDA, for potassium). I have current restriction on my food intake that make it impossible to receive the RDA of Potassium the natural way, so I needed to find a different way to get it in my system. The supplements you would otherwise have to purchase (unless you had a prescription for a higher grade from your doctor) are capped at that amount (99mg) for specific reasons that you should check out on the wikipedia entry for "potassium", if you want to be sure you'll be OK. I only take the 1/6 teaspoon at a time-4 x's a day-just to be on the safe side. I wouldn't recommend taking the whole daily allowance at one time. You'll be asking for trouble that way. I have serious cramps in both legs at times, and while I'm unable to prevent them while I'm sleeping, as soon as I feel the crap coming on, I rush to the NuSalt, place a bit under my tongue to get it in my system immediately and then dilute the rest in water and drink it. Cramp and soreness gone. Same goes with cramps after running. The Potassium works almost instantly. An inexpensive way to supplement with potassium for those who require it. Great product. Highly recommended.

I bought it for table salt substitute to help increasing potassium intake. Taste is slightly different and it's a bit more intense; however, the taste is like "mineral water" if I add a teaspoon into 8oz/240ml water and there's no salty taste. It takes time to get used it but it's worth.

This Nu-Salt product is almost entirely potassium chloride (KCl) rather than table salt, which is sodium chloride (NaCl). Potassium chloride tastes more like table salt than anything else I've tried, but it does have a bit of a metallic after taste. I've fairly-well masked that, though, by mixing 150 parts of potassium chloride with one part of citric acid crystals (also called sour salt). Citric acid has a very strong lemon flavor which is so strong by itself that it's difficult to use a small enough quantity of it. By mixing a small amount of it with potassium chloride, the citric acid flavor is much diluted, which makes it much easier to use, and the potassium chloride metallic after taste essentially disappears. EDIT: I keep changing the ratio of KCl to citric acid. Now I appear to have settled on about 1/4 of a teaspoon of citric acid per 3 oz. shaker of Nu-Salt. I think that works out to about 72 parts KCl to one part citric acid. It's all a matter of your taste, obviously.

Great salt

I've tried actual potassium supplements, but they weren't cutting it. Only 100mg per pill. These shakers give you over 500mg in 1/6 tsp. These shakers quite possibly saved my life. I was having a poor diet, and apparently was incredibly potassium deficient. I experienced a pretty nasty condition called hypokalemia, which really screwed with my blood pressure, causing my heart rate to skyrocket. Within not even 1 day of adding some nu salt to my meals, my heart rate returned to normal. This product honestly is the best potassium supplement out there, and the price for a 12 pack of these shakers is unbeatable. I will definitely order these again once I've run through my current stock.

Small, need bigger package for electrolytes

Great value buy! I use this stuff in ANYTHING I can hide it in, from soups to sauces. We aren't salt moderated in this house, but potassium supplementation in a safe way is always a priority. Since using this, I haven't needed coated tablets (which have risks) so that keeps me happy. I do blend this with regular salt so the taste is a non-issue. I can't comment from the perspective of using it to replace salt entirely.

Pretty close to salt so good for anyone who is trying to reduce your salt intake.
