The Cataract Surgery Book: Options & Explanations for Patients

A good first draft
This little ebook contains some valuable information for people anticipating cataract surgery. It would be much better if the author printed out a copy and retained a scholarly editor to spot typos and other mistakes and omissions, such as sentences that start but don't finish. The editor could also make formatting suggestions, help organize the contents better, and maybe suggest better treatment of the illustrations. The author could approach his patients past and present, ask them to read the book, and invite them to tell him what questions they had or have that the book does not currently address. Their responses should point the way to additional potentially valuable material. If he had asked me, for example, I would have asked for more information about recovery times, about the length of the surgical visit, prep time on the gurney, and time required to operate; about dealing with phobias (involving syringes and needles, for instance); and so forth. He could also review the current state of research into Lanosterol and cholesterol that may one day replace surgery as treatment for cataracts.

Content good. Print not the best
The content was applicable to surgery. The font seems to be in grey scale so it is difficult to read. Considering the person reading this is likely to have vision challenges due to cataracts, the font should be in black or in a font easier to read. The headings are fine but the text is not. I got this for my Mom who is about to have surgery and she indicated she cant see it to read it. I had to get another book but decided to get a ebook to avoid this concern again.

Nice overview of cataract surgery options. Much better than explanation from my ophthalmologist.
Easy read and good basic information for me. Would like to see information on how effective cataract surgery is for the long run.

A good read
I read the book before I chose the doctor for my surguries. I gave me perspective and while short, was long enough to make me think the topics were covered well enough.

Excellent explanation of cataract surgery...
All aspects of cataract surgery are clearly explained. Surgical and lens options are thoroughly explained. Possible complications are covered with treatment. Glaucoma is explained and treatments presented. An excellent read for an informed patient.

Very faint printing
At first I thought it was a joke - a cataract surgery book printed in very faint ink. It hurts your eyes to read it - even those who do not have cataracts. It is a terrible oversight because it reflects poorly on the author, a cataract surgeon.
