Significant time to assemble but the finished product worth the effort
Most of those who wrote the hours it took to assemble were spot on and the sheer weight of the unit made it difficult to work. One assembled you love the weight. I have assembled many pressed wood products and most all felt flimsy and not long for the world. Not so with this desk. It feels like it's built to last. Granted moving it several times would be a challenge but for my purposes it will be where it is for years and I have full confidence it will last it. The desk is beautiful to see and both the file drawers will replace to file cabinets I had. I have on the desk two laptops a monitor and an Ion turntable and it's deep enough for me to still write on and not look cluttered. My only suggestion is to replace the two top drawers that have the false front appearing to be four drawers with actually four drawers to have more storage space. Overall this is the most pleasing Sauder product I've purchased.

Easy to assemble- Geat desk for the money
After reading the reviews, the negative were on how hard it was to assemble. Some said it took two days. I decided to time myself. Took me an hour and 11 minutes to assemble. Directions were clear and easy to follow. The desk looks great in my home office and is the perfect size. For the money, you can't go wrong.Desk was heavy (shows weight in the description) so you will need two people to bring in or, open the box and bring in piece by piece.I think some or most of the negative reviews are from people who just don't have any idea what their doing. I don't thing this Desk deserves the negative review because of that. If you are unable to turn a screw driver, don't buy the Desk.Great desk, I love it, easy to assemble if you have some knowledge.

Good quality desk
Good quality desk, very happy overall. Takes quite a while to put together, you are getting a great desk at an affordable price but it takes a good amount of time to put together.Only complaint is, it was damaged in two areas due to the packaging being lightweight. It's a heavy piece and needed more padding as it was chipped on one corner on the top piece of the desk and also on the inside part where your seat would slot in. Damage was defo caused by crushing/weight.That's the only complaint so far.

Elegant and affordable
this was a beast to put together but after all is done, it looks wonderful. great quality and lots of surface space. Love that the keyboard and mouse hide in the middle drawer and have a hole behind the drawer for those using wired keyboard and mouse, to extend to the cpu. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse, but think it's a novel idea. also there's a hole in the top of the desk for wires to go down to the floor. I personally prefer the wires to be behind the desk so it's easier to hide them, but great to have the option depending upon your preference.

Don't do it!!!! Save your time and money!!!
When reading the reviews, I thought to myself, "my husband is a whiz at putting together furniture and following the rules step by step. This might take time, but we got this!" WRONG. This birthday present turned out to be a nightmare. The desk is 200 pounds or so = HEAVY. We knew that. The delivery people will NOT bring it into the house, you have to do that. Okay. So we brought it in piece by piece. Then we followed the 29 steps of directions only to find out that the legs do not attach to the body of the desk...? It's not even that these directions are terrible, the hardware was sub-par and there was not enough hardware to make the desk become...well, a desk. We're talking to the company now about refunds, but PLEASE save your money and time. Buy something else.Update: After going back and forth with the selling company and discussing the $890 shipping it would cost to return the desk, we filed our claim with Amazon who finally took care of us after I schlepped the 200 pound desk to UPS and everyone told me to throw out the desk. I really wish this had been a positive experience. The element that was positive is that Amazon took care of us. I'm actually shocked they still sell this product, Nevertheless, don't waste your precious time and energy on this back breaking fiasco.

True Remark
Most of the negative remarks are about the weight (200+ lbs) or the instruction to put it together so I will address that first. This is my first Sauder product. I am a self proclaimed expert at putting together things especially ikea products and I have many of them. The desk is heavy which is a GOOD THING otherwise people will say it is flimsy.I will agree that the instructions to put it together do need some work. It took me 2+ hours to put it togetherCurrently you have to work on 1 item put it aside and start to work on second and then third, all separate items. It would be better if you have 1 piece as a base then start to build on it so you don't have to constantly move from piece to piece individually and then put them together. Now let's move on to real issues (my reason for 3 stars). I have to say their customer service (Family owned company) is awesome and they tried to assist in the best way possible (I had shipping damage related issues). The workmanship on the edges as a whole is very poor OR it is a process defect that Sauder needs to address.I "assume" Sauder uses a VERY thin veneer which peels off at the edges especially when the edge is not smoothed over. In my opinion it will be better if the edges were to be sanded down to a tapered or rounded edge. (See Pic 1) notice the lines on the beveled edge? these are razor sharp and will give you a "paper cut" if you are not careful. Also (see Pic 2) which is of the Table top itself with the edges already showing.Secondly, some of the pre-drilled holes are too big for the screw head and if you are not careful (DO NOT USE DRILL) the screw will go right inside it. (see pic 2) ALSO, notice the rough part around the edge? that is how it comes to you.I should mention that Sauder is sending me some Color Markers so that I can color in/on the edges, but I am not sure how well that is going to look. The drawer rails hardware although is of finer quality, but again once you put in the drawer itself the rails do not work as well. All in all, it is a nice looking desk for the money.

Durable and well designed
Please excuse the mess in my picture. We are moving. I purchased this desk and hutch because the look and the drawer options. I put it together myself which took a while. I expected the desk to last at most 5-6 years. Itโs going on 8 years and still solid. The drawers are still smooth & shelves are still even and holding up, solid. Iโd purchase again with no qualms. Hasnโt nicked or peeled liked I expected it would with its daily use.

Great desk!
Desk it heavy, which I took as a good indication, and which was. It's well built, sturdy, and looks very professional. It came in good condition and was fairly easy to assemble by myself, with minor help putting the top on, in total it took about 4 hours to do. The only flaw I could find is that the legs seems to be cut about 1/8" too long which makes leaves minor gaps under the top, not visible without getting on the ground, and no effect upon the functionality of it.
