Is the jacket mesh lined, body and sleeves?

Yes both body and sleeves are lined. The jacket is excellent. Extremely waterproof, very breathable with zips under the arms for extra ventilation if you want it

Is the large a generous large or would I be better off buying the next size up if i wanted to wear another warm layer like a fleece underneath?

the one i bought fits me relatively snuggly. definitely not tight on me and so i can wear a layer underneath but i suppose this depends on the thickness of another layer(s) and you acutal size vs the jacket itself. my size is perfect for me. i am 1.78 in height and weight about 90kg
