almost indestructible after 9 years and many sharpenings
There are many finer chisel sets available that you could pass down to your grandkids, and take pride in using. This is not this set. This set is cheap and very durable. i've been beating these up with hammers and misuse for 9 years and many sharpening's to pound and stab all sorts of things. I do rough chisel work on fence timbers, or bench projects, or use these to cut open bottles or cut through plastic barrels. etc You can see from the picture the tips are beaten up, but still useable.

These turned out to be better than expected for use in our application
These turned out to be better than expected for use in our application: We use then to scrape varnish off our boat teak. We get about a 1/2 day between sharpening which I do with a Stanley sharpening too with wheels (which I spite of some unproductive negative reviews works quite well). I also use the 1200 grit EZE-LAP 61SF as the stone. I also use various 300-1000 grit wet or dry sandpaper for the coarse adjustments in the beginning of a lap.As we use then we hold the chisel vertical and either drag it towards or away from ones self. Good boat guys learn to push it away but I lack the acquired strength and drag it towards. This can be done with or without heat. If the varnish or Cetol is thick heat it with the cheap Harbor Freight Heat Shrink Gun until it bubbles a little and quickly drag the chisel and it comes right off easily. For after removal scraping I use Crown Scrapers and liked the curved surface scraper a lot. I also bought the Crown Burnisher (expensive, gulp) and use it for the Crown Scrapers and the 1" wide paint scraper I bought at Ace Hardware for $3.99. The burnisher rolls the edge of any soft metal scraper to form a burr which is where all the real work is done.

Awesome set of beginner chisels
An awesome starter set of chisels for any aspiring wood worker. I bought these as my first set to learn on and I am very happy with them. I have since learned how to sharpen woodworking tools and these chisels can take a great edge. I have attached photos of the edges I have attained and a video demonstration of these edges.I have also attached photos that include the dimensions of the various chisels included.Included in this set is a 1", 3/4", and a 1/2" chisel.Pros:*Super great price*Can take a razor fine edge*Edges last a while*Three convenient sizes includedCons:*NoneAdditional Considerations:When you get chisels you will need to flatten the back and hone them right away. I personally use the following diamond plate stones for sharpening: Ultra Sharp II Diamond Sharpening Stone Kit - Coarse/Medium/Extra FineAfter sharpening I use Green Chrome Oxide Compound, 6 oz. applied to Trend U*DWS/HP/LS Honing Compound Leather Strop in order to strop the blade to a mirror finish at 15000 grit. That is how I get the blade seen in the video I attached. When it comes to hand tools always keep them sharp!Overall: 5/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, <.5 rounds down) => 5 starsIf you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Top Notch Product!!!!
These chisels are top notch....Anyone wanting a economical chisel shouldnt hesitate with this purchase... I have used this product for several years. When I was a framer (carpenter) I carried one of these in my pouch for all sorts of things... the handles on these things are pretty much indestructable. I have pounded on them with a waffle head of a 24oz framing hammer with NO PROBLEMS... Some of the reviews ive read make mewonder if people are just trying to run down somebody elses products to better their own.. I mean REALLY!!!... LOOK AT THE PRICE PEOPLE!!!!I bought this set for my workshop that I am now putting together and I recieved them and did a "test run".... They are super sharp right out of the package and are the same grade Ive been getting for years. If a person wants to have a pretty set of chisels to hang on the wall and never use....then I dont know what to tell you LOL.... I think they look ok too though.... But for what its worth...I strongly recommend these as good "workhorse" chisels.... buy them with confidence and enjoy them....By the way...to some of the other reviewers...I have never seen a wood chisel that didnt need sharpening from time to time...

These chisels saved my ass
I bought these as kind of a "just in case" purchase when I was building a wine and glass rack for my sister for Christmas. I don't have a lot of tools, and these were inexpensive, so I added them. And they SAVED MY ASS. I don't have a planer, or a router, or a band saw, or a table saw. I built the wine rack with a jigsaw, and in some of the curves, I just couldn't get the three supports to be equal in width. I ended up C-clamping them together and scraping them down manually with these chisels. They are extremely sharp and hold their edge well, and helped me cut through almost an eighth of an inch of wood to get the three pieces to be identical. The varied sizes helped me to level them out after I'd properly marred the surfaces, and provided a good result that I could then sand down to soft smoothness.Needless to say, these were a critical purchase, and for their price, I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't own a set. Thanks, Stanley.
