So far I'm very pleased with my purchase (I've only been using the heater for 2 days - I'll update this review if I experience any issues).The assembly instructions could use some tweaks for clarity, but they are considerably better than most I've screamed at over the years. It took me less than an hour from opening the box to the first ignition, and that includes removing all the annoying protective shrink wrap. No issues with missing hardware or hole alignment. I didn't cuss once while putting this together, and that earns a good assembly score.With a full propane tank the heater feels quite stable even without adding sand or water to the base (I am going to add sand anyway). As you can see from the photo, the unit is pretty well protected where we have it on our lanai. We also don't have kids running around, but I could definitely see a rambunctious tyke easily taking one of these down.The first time I ignited the heater it caught on the second attempt. Every other ignition since then has been on the first go.On the highest setting this heater puts out a significant amount of heat. It keeps us very cozy on the couch about 8 feet away (far right in photo). On the lowest setting you'll need to be almost right under it to feel the warmth. I expect we'll go through a fair amount of propane since we're about 8 feet away.The unit is attractive and, overall, seems well built. It would be nice if the heat reflector was larger, as that would likely provide a larger heat radius. I'd also like to see an adjustable pole instead of the fixed length.Provided the heater lasts, this is a great deal.Feb 2023 update: everything is still working great! Updating my review to five stars.Oct 2023 update: After not using the heater for about six months (hot Florida), it fired up on the first try this week. I remain very pleased with my purchase.Dec 2024 update: Still working perfectly, and it fired up on the first try again this season!

This product was a second choice as I found some very similar products at lesser costs but they were unavailable at the brick and mortar store or they were unable to have the heater arrive for our planned event. However, through Amazon, I was able to purchase this item at a competitive price and have it arrive in two days with reasonable additional shipping costs. I was pleasantly pleased at the condition of the box and the interior contents as it was packaged very well. All items were clearly marked or shown in the diagram in the instructions. They went together well but I suggest leaving the hardware loosened until you complete each step then tighten after that step. I assembled in the kitchen using the table and counters as a layout and bench. I had initially filled the base with water, but it leaked so I skipped that step and will fill it with sand at a later date. The rest was a breeze. I completed putting it together and moved it outside on our screened in porch (high ceilings) attached the propane tank and it was flame on the first time I tried. The wife was pleased because she now had a heat source on the porch so people can gather and sit outside and talk or spill over from the family Christmas Dinner and if Momma's happy......well, you know the rest.FOLOW UP.....The after party.....just wanted to let you know that Christmas Day couldn't have been better and much of it was because of the utility of the heater. We burned it, with kids sitting under it chatting, for hours after opening presents and sitting outside for dinner. Granted, it was almost 50 degrees but it worked great. It also allowed a place for the kids late in the evening to sit and swap stories. Couldn't have been any better if it was the 4th of July. Thanks Amazon for great and speedy service....as always.

I purchased this particular patio heater after having considered a number of other ones on Amazon and other web sites. One of the reasons for purchasing this one was the availability of the Sable Brown color. Another factor was that we live in a very windy area, and I was concerned about the heater blowing over. Some units do not have the ability to weight the base with water or sand, but this one does.Assembly was very easy, but time consuming. Because of my concern for the unit tipping over in the wind, especially if the propane tank is nearing empty, I decided to fill the base with sand. Water would have been SO much easier, believe me, but sand is about 60% heavier by volume than water, so for me it was worth the effort. About the only negative comment I have concerning this unit is that the fill hole in the base could be larger to make sand filling easier. Just filling the base took me about an hour. I would have to use a small cup to scoop up sand from a bag and then try to get it in the small hole. As the base filled up, I kept reaching in with a few fingers and pushing the sand away from the hole to compact it against the sides of the base. I was able to fill the base with about 80% of a 0.5 cu ft bag, so about 40 pounds of sand.The instructions were excellent - great pictures and easy to follow. I did not use their provided 'wrench', but my own socket set. The quality of materials is excellent - all painted items appear to be powder-coated. The unit has two wheels to allow the unit to be easily positioned.The first time you use this, the unit will smoke a bit for about 10 minutes or so, most likely burning off chemicals used during manufacturing. It lights very easily, within a few seconds. Of course, they recommend that you use the shutoff valve on your tank every time you finish using the heater. If you are the type of person who always follows every safety recommendation because some lawyer made them put it in the manual, you may get annoyed by having to lift up the tank cover every time you want to shut off the gas. Some other units have an access hole in the tank cover, but this one does not. The tank cover must be lifted up on the pole to get to the valve or to change the tank. There is a plastic ring around the hole in the tank cover to prevent it from scratching the pole when you raise or lower it. As for me, I will not be shutting off the valve every time I use it. If you have tested your tank installation and verified there are no leaks at the tank, it is really unnecessary, and actually you are more likely to cause a leak if you are continually messing with the tank every time you use the heater.The unit puts out a lot of heat. You will not be sitting out in shorts and a T-shirt when it's 32 degrees out, but on cool nights in the 50s, you can definitely be outside without a jacket on.I highly recommend this unit based on my limited experience with it, and will post an update if I encounter any issues that would affect my rating.

Yesterday evening after my wife and I assembled an entire 5 piece set of patio furniture in about 45 minutes I figured I could quickly assemble the heaters we had purchased here from the Ole Amazon. I figured it would be quick and simple. I opened the box, got out all the parts, laid everything out in an orderly fashion, and then grabbed the manual that came in the box with the heater. Opened the manual assuming I'd find the instructions on how to assemble. That's where things went sideways! After flipping through the manual pages several times I realized there are in fact ZERO instructions on the assembling of the heater. So I came to the Ole Amazon and confirmed after reading several other reviews there are in fact ZERO instructions. I thought as a backup plan...YouTube. Cause there's typically a YouTube video for everything. Nope. Not this time. The one video you want find on YouTube is how to assemble this heater and it's not there. So I grabbed the nuts and bolts set that came in packaging and stared at everything for a moment like it was a 50000 piece jigsaw puzzle, cause at this point that's exactly what it was. At least to me. 😉So after about 2.5 hours, literally, not over exaggerating I had one heater assembled and working. I'll end this part by saying while I don't consider myself an everyday handyman, I do consider myself pretty capable. Especially when well informed instructions are provided. I also build, commission and startup large industrial facilities around the world. So surely a simple heater wouldn't take that long with need for a mechanical engineering doctorate degree. 🤣 Last slightly negative is the shrink wrap that is on the heat shield pieces is a pain to get off and a big time consumer as well. Not difficult, just time consuming.Now for the positive! So after figuring out the puzzle of a heater I'd purchased from Amazon, I got it all together and fired up. It fired up on the first time with ease and most certainly was kicking out at least the advertised 46,000 BTU of heat. I don't have any more at this time to add since I just got 1 of 2 heaters assembled and only used the 1 for about 15 minutes since it was almost midnight after assembling the 1 heater.I would recommend this product. With that recommendation I'd add patience and probably beer as a requirement. Beer will limit your frustration from having no assembly information and after a few beers patience won't matter as much. I'll follow-up with a review on functionality and longevity of the heaters after a little more usage.Good luck and may odds be ever in your favor! 😉

Pull everything out of the box. Make sure you get the hardware packet out. Have someone start peeling off the blue protective tape from the 4 pieces that attach together as well as the very top piece b/c this process is tedious and time-consuming. In taking off the blue film, use small motions around the edges to get it going. Get a socket set and screw driver. Then, only attach the four curved metal pieces together, into a big circle, using the outside holes b/c you'll then attach the very top piece to it using the inside holes. The very top piece goes "bowl" down.Order:1. wheels onto base2. 3 curved rods attach to the base. The curved tops point at each other (facing in). I now put the 20 lb gas tank onto the base.3. lower pipe triangle attaches to the top of the 3 curved rods4. upper pipe attaches to heater unit after feeding gas line down down the upper pipe5. circle, with very top cover (bowl down) now attached, attaches to heater unit with 3 double-threaded screws.6. Take out the 4 existing screws from the top of the lower pipe. You'll use these again to attach the whole upper part of the heater to the lower half of the heater.7. feed the gas line from the bottom of the upper pipe down through the lower pipe so that it comes out by the gas tank.8. screw it onto a 20 lb. lp tank.9. after opening the tank valve and turning the unit dial a 1/4 turn counter-clockwise and holding it in, push the igniter button. It ignites pretty quickly but you have to keep pushing the dial in for a few more seconds to get a good gas flow.Hope this helps!

We’ve had this patio heater for about 2 years now and so far so good. It’s easy to use and gives out pretty good heat. It covers an outdoor patio pretty well. It’s adjustable- can turn heat up or down. So far so good. I think it’s worth it

First off let me start by saying this is not the first deck heater I have bought. We have a very large deck and even in the winter I would much rather sit outside. First let me start by saying putting this together is not to hard the box came in perfect condition and I instantly took it into the man cave to put together. You know one of them man caves that has a sign above door saying woman by invite only. This was to insure I would not have any interruptions. It easily took me a hour and half to put together, that was with my constant distractions of the tv taking my interest away. The heater pieces were packed very nicely and snug. I did not see a single scratch on any of them. As I said earlier this is not my first deck heater. Although the last one I bought at the end of winter as a display model in my local store, and sent my better half up to get it and needless to say the air caught it on the way home in the bed of my truck and sent it airborn. I was then upgraded to the better half. Honestly this deck heater is very good for what it costs it is very comparable to the one home depot had on sale for black friday which I bought one of. It really heats up an area of anywhere from 5 to 15 ft depending on where it's placed. I have them placed all over my deck for winter party's we throw. With the tank in it and the base full of sand (you will need to buy this) it really is sturdy and will withstand some wind. Although I do cover all of them I have left them out in the winter elements for weeks at a time and they still start like a champ. Only problem is starting it with some wind can sometimes be a little bit of a pain. Buy one you won't regret it.

Where to begin.... First, I guess, a disclaimer: I have assembled the unit, but haven't yet turned it on, so this review is based on my "assembly" experience.The first thing you're supposed to do is disassemble the base unit from its housing & fill it with sand or water. I chose water because I live in rural Vermont & don't have access to sand.Once you complete that, you're instructed to reattach the collar to the base unit using the four screws & bolts you previously removed to take the it apart. Easy enough, right? Except that when you tighten them, you must be real careful. After the reassembly, there was water all over the floor, BECAUSE THE NUTS WENT RIGHT THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE BASE. Furthermore, there was absolutely no reason to take the base apart - you can fill it while it's together.I probably should have stopped & asked for a return at that point, but the shipping carton arrived in deplorable condition, & there was no way I would have been able to put it back in the box.Next problem - Step3 (& I have read & reread the assembly instructions to see if I messed this up) is for the attachment of the "Post Supports." WHAT THEY DON'T EXPLAIN IS THAT THEY ARE NOT IDENTICAL! TWO HAVE SMALL HOLES ON THE UPRIGHTS THAT ARE NEEDED IN (GET THIS) STEP 11, BASICALLY THE LAST STEP OF THE ASSEMBLY PROCESS! IF YOU DON'T PUT THE ONE POST WITHOUT THE SMALL HOLES IN BETWEEN THE OTHER TWO, YOU'LL HAVE TO TAKE THE ENTIRE UNIT APART TO REPOSITION THEM CORRECTLY AFTER YOU THINK YOU'RE DONE!In Step 9, there is no guidance in which side of the REFLECTOR PIECES the CAP NUT should be secured to (how the screw & nut should be inserted). I took a chance & attached them to the bottom - hope I'm right....At NO POINT in the instructions do they tell you to attach the UPPER POST (F) to the LOWER POST (G), but I'm just being picky here - that's kind of easy to figure out.In Step 11, you are instructed to put your propane tank "on top of the "Post Supports." This is an obvious mistake, as it the tank sits on the base BETWEEN the Post Supports. Then you're asked to "SECURE THE PROPANE TANK BY ATTACHING THE CHAIN (L) TO THE POST SUPPORTS."AT THIS POINT, I HAD TO TAKE THE UNIT APART AND REPOSITION THE POST SUPPORTS TO BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE THE DAMN CHAIN, & THEN REASSEMBLE IT!Hope this is useful should you decide to purchase this item.

Amazing heater. Great value for the money and the colour is an amazing bonus. It's quite a conversation piece. Love it. Casts off the perfect amount of heat. Perfect for patios or decks.

We chose this based on price. It was relatively easy to put together. It works good and gives off a lot of heat for our patio. We recommend.

These do throw a lot of heat. But if it’s windy then not so much, like all heaters. We have it on our deck away from the wind and it’s perfect for fall nights.

I only recommend this product from Amazon outdoor propane heater very well built, fantastic highly highly recommend
