and I'm glad I decided to go with this one
I had been searching for a salad spinner for months, and I'm glad I decided to go with this one. It isn't unnecessarily pricey (like those at the supermarket), and it is extremely durable and does its job well. My mom has had this same spinner for years, and it is still in like-new condition. Holds one head of lettuce and so is perfect for a small/medium sized family. Definitely glad I bought this--haven't noticed any downsides yet!

Good spinner
Let me start out by saying that I owned a salad spinner decades ago. Its handle broke shortly after I got it. I'm assuming that today's plastics are more durable than they were years ago. It's clear that the handle design of this spinner is better than the other spinner.I originally gave this spinner three stars, and then decided to raise it to four. In the beginning, I had trouble getting the top on and off, but I have since learned the knack. (You have to lift the top next to the handle to keep it from grabbing.) Also, it seemed to me that the spinner didn't hold a lot of water, but that hasn't proved to be a problem. (If you are spinning more than one batch of lettuce, you should pour the water out between spins.) For the relatively low price, this is a good product.I'm very pleased to have this spinner. It is so much easier than manually shaking each piece of lettuce over the sink.Let me say a little about cleaning vegetables. I read recently that it is more effective to hold vegetables under streaming water than to dunk them in water. But if you hold them under streaming water, you may miss some parts of the lettuce, and you'll waste a lot of water. So what I do is this: First, I found a large bowl that I didn't need for anything else. I fill the bowl, and then I submerge the lettuce and shake it to dislodge all the dirt. That seems to get the lettuce very clean.Cleaning vegetables is very important. Sometimes I'm amazed by how much brown silt accumulates at the bottom of the bowl. Of course, it's not possible to see how much pesticide comes off, but pesticide is more dangerous than silt, since it can cause neurological problems (people who live in rural areas get more Parkinson's disease, and that disease is a misery). When I was young, I'd often eat romaine lettuce without cleaning it. Now, I'm horrified that I ever did such a thing.

Ikea Tokig Salad and Handwash Spinner
You might not know this...I bought this Ikea Tokig salad spinner to spin dry short hair wigs in. And it works beautifully. Have to tuck the hairs in the wig cap, yet the spinning gets quite a bit of the water out so there is no dripping when the wig is removed. I put one short hair wig in one way, spun it, and removed the lid and dumped the captured water, and then replaced the wig in a different way, and spun again. The second time has less resistance. Then I take the wig out of the basket, and it is damp but not dripping, and ready to fluff. Dumped the water, took apart the spinner and basket and lid so they can dry.I will use it for my Buffs and scarves, too. No twisting or rolling up in towels, which also have to be dried. I should have bought the deal with 2 for price of 1 and a half, but I wasn't sure it would work. It does, and I'd buy the deal for two because, well, one would be great for salad, too!

Great salad spinner for the cost, easy to use.
After reading reviews, I was a little nervous, as it seems people seem to either love or hate their spinners. This one is easy enough to grip, spins very fast and pretty easily, and is easy to pull the lid off and put it back on. It's a pretty simple device, but it does its job well.It might feel like it's made of relatively cheap plastic, but it also doesn't feel like it's going to break any time soon with regular usage. No complaints here, especially for the price.

A great deal
I bought this almost a year ago, and use it pretty much every day. It still works as well as the day I bought it. I think I paid $5 for it. You can't beat that! It's large enough to spin salad for several people, easy to clean, works like a charm, and is insanely cheap. It's not fancy, but it does what it needs to do for a fraction of the cost of other salad spinners. Very pleased with this.

Wouldn't spin, awkward to use.
I have one of these I received years ago. It is awesome and cost $2.99. When I found this I bought it for a friend. It was overpriced and wouldn't work. This is an overpriced and ill made copy.

Works great and the price is right
I was looking at a more expensive salad spinner with the pumping action rather than spinning action on top but my partner, who makes most of the salads, insisted that design always breaks and he preferred this design. I've always liked Ikea products for their simplicity of design and function and the price was significantly less than the pumping action one, so decided to order this one.My partner really likes the design of this salad spinner. He showed me how there is space between the inside basket where you put the greens and the bottom of the spinner bowl so there's a place for the water to go after spinning, rather than having the greens sitting in water. He also said it spins easily. The only complaint he had (which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) was that it was smaller than we would have liked. It would be nice if the seller would say how many cups the basket inside holds and if they offered 2 sizes.

IKEA TOKIG Salad Spinner - easy to use and clean
This salad spinner is small, if persn using it also uses it to store lettus, only a small salad for 3 to 3 persons would be available. I like the size because it fits easily into my dish washer to clean and in the cabinet for storage. I use the spinner only to clean lettus, fresh oregano and other leafy vegetables. I store in a larger container. The material it is made of is sturdy yet flexable so the top goes on and spins easily. It was better than expected. My previous spinners had pull cords that broke, clips that held the top on that snapped off or tops inner baskets that were difficult to line up with the top and spin. For me, the IKEA TOKIG Salad Spinner is a KEEPER.
