Fantastic album from the great Billy Joel.

1983 meant many things for some of us such as graduating from high school, but outside of such personal experiences one thing is sheer quality of the music issued that year and nowhere is that more apparent than in this release. Billy Joel picked up on the retro buzz for the 50's and weaved it into song with each and every number from this album including such excellent examples of 50's pastiches as The Longest Time with its doowop feel and Leave A Tender Moment Alone. The album was one the first to come out on cd and was remastered in 1998 but nothing touches the remastering by Mobile Fidelity labs for the richness they've brought out from "The Original Master Tapes". Billy sounds like he's singing live in your room. A real upgrade for Billy Joel fans

This is a lovely album. The vinyl was in excellent condition and arrived super quick too. Love all the tracks especially The Longest Time which is a an upbeat and feel good track.

Came very quickly and was very pleased with the CD. Includes well known songs such as Uptown Girl, recommended to any Billy Joel fans.

I had this on cassette as a kid and an glad to now own it on CD. So many classic tracks...I remembered them all am these years later. Brilliant barbershop and a capella singing. I wish artists today were 'real' musicians like Billy Joel!

I love this CD as the songs take me back to all the good times and wonderful memories we had many thanks.

This is an old Album, I had it and lost it, Now I have it again I will be listening to it a lot. It is still as good as I remember if not better. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone who is interested in some good old fashioned easy listening, good feeling music.

Eccellente riedizione di questo disco di BJ da parte della Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. Sulla qualità d'incisione ripeto quello che ho sempre detto a proposito degli Original Master Recording: qualità eccelsa che vale sicuramente il prezzo. Consegna nei tempi e vinile in perfette condizioni .

Billy Joel hat keine wirklich schlechten Alben herausgebracht, im Grunde haben alle mindestens 4 Sterne verdient, aber das hier ist für mich nach "The Stranger" das geschlossenste Album mit keinen Ausfällen oder Schwachpunkten. Und es wirkt recht konzeptionell, offensichtlich wollte Joel hier der gesangsbetonten Musik der 50er und 60er Jahre Tribut zollen. Es startet mit dem mit fetzigen Bläsersätzen und Billys Schreien versehenem, etwas hektischen "Easy Money", dann ganz lässig und sparsam instrumentiert der Titelsong, dann folgen das geniale A Capella Stück "The Longest Time ", die stimmungsvolle Ballade "This Night", die schnellen Hits "Tell Her About it" und "Uptown Girl", das groovige "Careless Talk", das rock 'n' rollende "Christie Lee" um dann mit dem ruhigen "Leave A Tender Moment Alone" und dem selbstreflektierendem "Keeping The Faith" im mittleren Tempo das Album zu beschliessen. Neben der wie immer hervorragenden, wandlungsfähigen Stimme Billy Joels, gibt es viele super arrangierte Hintergrundgesänge und Bläsersätze, die die Musik veredeln. Ein sehr empfehlenswertes Album auch für Billy Joel Einsteiger.

Growing up in Flushing, had his albums up to this one. Love everyone of his albums. Since moving around, I replaced them with CDs. This was the last one. Never bought any of his albums after this. His music after this just didn't have the same feeling. Not sure why, but felt like he was winding down for retirement. But Every single albums previous to this are just amazing. He's the piano man.
