Venom By Donny Cates Vol. 2: The Abyss

It gives you a new view to the character and tells you about what happend to turn him into the lethal protector. It is really good and I recommend it for readers who enjoy venom and are older then 10 it has somethings that are a little scary for younger readers but not too bad. It is one of the best venom comic I've read I recommend.

Great job of giving real depth to a anti hero. While still showing his growth and the symbiote still being true to what it was. That need they both had for connection. Even if it wasn't real at times. Greatstory

The story Arc was really good and reached a pinnacle at the end that you don't see coming! Excellent writing!

I liked this more than I thought I would. It's not just a continuation of the story, it's a pause in the action to reflect on who Eddie is, give depth to the character, and build the mythos around the man. The previous graphic novel was about the symbiote, this one is about the man. There is a lot of potential here, and I am excited to read on and see how it develops.

I would say that this is Donny Cates’ best work ever, but Vol 3 somehow tops this. This is the best Venom run ever. I don’t even really like Venom but I’m obsessed with this series and love Venom in this run.

Really enjoying Donny Cates' Venom run. This continues the exciting adventures of the first volume and throws in some major plot twists. It has a few cameo characters that help add to the story. A few art changes in the book, but they are subtle and hardly noticeable.

Donny Cates writing in Venom as resparked my joy of comics. This book immakes it easy to get caught up. I read the entire book in one sitting because it was very good.

The Abyss is first and foremost a story about Eddie's relationship with his symbiote. We see Eddie dealing with the aftermath of the first arc, and how it affects his view on things. What we also get in The Abyss is an excellent look at Eddie's backstory. What made him who he is. It's an excellent character study. There are multiple twists that left me very surprised and satisfied too. Some big revelations about Eddie, Venom, and how they link together. The artwork is fantastic once again, and the way that panels are out together to add to the story is excellent. The panels aren't just where the pictures go, they contribute to the delivery of the story in really cool ways. Overall, this is a very different comic to the first volume, but equally enjoyable, if not more so.

Story is dark with plot twists and gives more character development to eddie. Although this volume has less 'venom' action but its a good read nevertheless
