In general, a microswitch like this will work if it is physically the same as the original and of the correct type. The two types are NC, normally closed, and NO, normally open. There will usually be a symbol on the switch to denote the type. A normally closed switch will have a symbol that looks like: horizontal line, dot horizontal line, dot horizontal line, all continuous. Think of it as as an overhead view of a door that is closed. A normally open switch will have the symbol horizontal line, dot, line at 45 degrees up, not connected to second dot, horizontal line. Like a door open. You can look these symbols up. After making sure that the circuit is discharged (LOOK IT UP OR IT MAY KILL YOU), remove the old switch carefully. Disconnect the two wires and connect them to the new switch as they were originally connected. Reinstall everything. You may have to fiddle with the frame that these switches fit into to get the door to work right. Good luck.
