I bought this as a replacent for an old (10 years) handheld Dremel. If you use a Dremel regularly you won't regret purchasing this. It has plenty of power and the speed control works great. The flex shaft is very sturdy. The hand piece is easy to hold and control. The only thing I can think that would make it better is a quick change chuck.

Works great easy to use

Ive used a dremel tool for an hour or two a day for the past 5 plus years and have burned up a couple of the 12v cordless dremels and one standard corded model which sent me on the hunt for an industrial grade rotary tool. And this hanging tool is where i landed. These hanging tools are every bit as manageable as the cordless variants but the real advantage is the operation via the foot pedal. The unit is on and whenever your ready to work just ease the pedal down as far/fast as you need and the amount of low speed torque this thing has is crazy. With this much more speed and power projects take a fraction of the time. You do lose the keyless chuck thing but the trade off is worth the few extra seconds it takes to manually chuck your bits

Solid tool. I do wood carving and this tool gives me power and precision for less money than a foredom.

I'm assuming it's another great product from Dremel. Because the sealed Dremel box was missing the foot padal control switch.

I've used rotary tools in my art business for 25+ years. I branched out from engraving glass and metal and started power carving wood, so I decided to get away from smaller hand held machines and invest in a heavy duty pendulum machine. I bought 2 and in less than 50 hours on each machine, the flex shafts disintegrated. Without a flex shaft, these machines are useless.. and guess what... Dremel NO LONGER makes a replacement flex shaft for this series!! I've heard that flex shafts from other manufacturers can be adapted to fit but I shouldn't have to go to that trouble. I've got 2 smaller cheap HF Chicago Electric machines that are 15 and 20+ years old with hundreds if not thousands of hours of use. They're not as powerful as I'd like for heavy power carving, but at least they're dependable. It amazes me that dremel STILL sells this series and offers NO support. I want to be clear that I have no issue or complaint with the seller... Only with Dremel. Please don't waste your money folks.

I have only used it for a short time, but I can see things I like and some that I don't like. Here are the pros and cons I see thus far. Pros: -Very quiet for the amount of power it has. More quiet than any of the smaller models I've had. -Extremely versatile! Chuck key bit change is quick and reduces the need for collets. -The stylus (I'm not sure what it's called so I'll call it a "stylus" for lack of a better term) is kinda bulky, but not too uncomfortable. Cons: -The chuck key doesn't seat well in the gear and I noticed gouging on the gear after the first bit I put in it. I hope this doesn't become a bigger issue along the way with the chuck gear stripping. It's almost like the chuck key is a few thousandths of an inch too small. -The stylus started getting quite hot after only 5 minutes. -The cord from the peddle to the wall is a kinda short, but nothing an extension cord can't fix. Just kind of a pain in the a**. Overall, I would recommend this to friends as well enemies. First off because it does seem like a well built tool and also because of dremel's track record of excellent customer service. I'm reasonably certain that it will meet all of your expectations in a rotary tool.

Upgraded my original dremel and absolutely love this one. The foot pedal makes it so easy to control speed and to stop as I need to. Easy to hold, more comfortable. Easy to change out bits! Bracket holds it nicely when not in use. Worth the price!

Es Justo lo que buscaba. Mi profesión es la podología, nada que ver con las artesanías, pero es lo que usamos. Mi dremel anterior me duró más de 10 años, así que tengo grandes expectativas con este. Además, es más silencioso de lo que aparenta.

Wow! I am so very pleased with this purchase! I drill beach glass and stone and was using a dremel with the wand attachment, which worked fine but, was always a hassle having to stand up and change the speed or turn it off and on. The convenience of the foot pedal is great! The only down side is the weight of the wand end of the unit but, you get use to it over time. Great tool for the hobbyist. I have recommended this unit for people who want to drill beach glass or rocks because you have to do so in water. Water and electricity do not mix and you should never risk being electrocuted from holding the unit in your hand, the motor is right there and with the rotation of the bit, it draws the water up into the unit. This is the tool you want for the job with your diamond drill bits.
