worth the money

I expected more from Minka Aire.
This is a handsome looking fan at a great price (I've been researching wall fans for some time). It has a heavy-duty feel; very robust construction.But I don't think Minka thought this thoroughly through. There are several problems:1. One major problem is with the oscillating setup. It has an off-on switch on the side of the motor that operates separately from the pull-chain. So, if you mount this fan higher than 6' or so, you won't be able to turn off the oscillation- even though the fan is off. You need to route the power source through a wall switch to cut the power to both the fan and the oscillation.2. It's and indoor/outdoor fan, but is a bit loud for indoor use at higher speeds.3. It doesn't push that much air, even on high. Barely usable for a small indoor room. Unacceptable for exterior air flow.4. It comes with a plug, but can be converted to hardwired, though the assembly is quite difficult due to the mounting bracket design. No instructions on how to do this. Not even online. Which leads us to...5. Another problem: the lack of info. There are no instructions. I did some research online, but there is little out there. Doesn't move enough air
This fan looks great, it's well-made, and it was easy to mount. On low it's so quiet that I forget it on. But the real reason I forget it on is because it barely moves any air. I'd guess it moves one-tenth of the air of a normal ceiling fan.

Didn't work
Wouldn't turn on. Troubleshooting useless. Installed the wall piece to put it up and nothing. Returned. Did not buy another. It's heavier than heavy.

This fan is beautiful but has near zero air flow
I installed 2 fans on my deck. they are beautiful but for such a heavy piece of equipment, there is almost no air flow on high. I have a cheap battery fan that has 10x more air flow than these $400 dollar fans. Also, when you turn it off, it keeps oscillating! Such a bad design. Beauty - 10; functionality 1. Very disappointed but I had someone install them and now don't want to rip them out to start over. Really disappointed. I wonder if there is a way to replace the fan blades to increase the overall effectiveness of THE FAN!

Poor oscillation.
Oscillation is very poor and weak. It's only about 45 degrees. It kind of stops or pauses in the middle like it's broke. The airflow is average. My little Vornado fan that cost 20 or 30 bucks does a much better job. This is a very heavy fan and installation is moderately difficult. If you install it under a ceiling you will have to play a guessing game and lower it about 6 or 8 inches because you have to lift it up and over the mounting bracket and then slide it down in the mounting bracket slots. This fan is ten times too much money than it should be.

IS NOT HARD WIRED. HAS A HUGE BLACK CABLE.
Item comes with huge black cord which does not look good with the fan and is very very hard to hard wire. My electrician hates this fan.
