Nashbar Low Rider Front Rack

Good material could be thicker. Design good.

I would steer away from this if you are looking for a reliable rack. 100 miles into a tour it broke and it wasn't loaded with more than 5 pounds or so per pannier. Luckily I was only 3 miles from a bike shop (just returned from the wilderness) or I could of been a little screwed. I had to rig up a temporary solution to even make it to the bike shop. Maybe it was a fluke but I wouldn't risk it.

Easier than some other brands to install. I've purchased a many items from Nashbar over the years and have not been disappointed. I have 3 other racks, expedition weight, but the 2 Nashbar racks have never failed. I don't want or need to put 50+ pounds on my front wheels......Nice design with tabs to hold the panners in place top and bottom, good price, holds up well, easy to install. If I get my hands on another touring bike I'd buy another Nashbar front rack.

I used it on my surly long haul trucker. The rack holds my Ortlieb bags without issue, but the rack rubs the Surly around the fork eyelets and has rubbed the paint off.

Expect to need a drill, doesn't quite fit the brazeons on my bike.

The few times I've used them, they've performed as they should. Installation was sketchy for a bit. They went on well, but when I tried to put on the panniers, they didn't fit. The forks were in the way. I reassembled the racks and by going to the max on every adjustment it fit. In a nutshell, I'm satisfied & would recommend them to a friend.

If I could rate it lower I would. The bolts stripped out and I used the included hex. Now I cant even ride my bike because of this. Im probably never gonna buy from nashbar again.

I installed this rack on my Surly Pacer which does not have mid fork eyelets. This rack made it from Iowa to Florida on an 1800 mile ride over the course of 35 days. I am thoroughly impressed by the price and quality of this rack.
