Needing something to demagnetize metal bits and small tools, will this work?

It will of you use it right. You basically need to place the bit on the device and press the power button for few seconds then slowly and steady move the bit away from the device before releasing the power button. Might need to repeat until its completely demagnetized.

does this item work at 220v (european system)?

My unit is 110 VAC only. Not sure if a 220V version is available.

Would this work to demagnetize small bearings?

Yes it will. I purchased this to demagnetize the screws and gps module on my drone and have used it to demag numerous things and it works great.
