I got this and the Ridge Runner at the same time. This has larger tires and is a little higher on the body sides. It offers an amazing value if you have always wanted to try crawling. The 4 wheel steering Is the true star of the show, and allows you to get in and out of tight spaces and really conquer just about any terrain. The tires are decent for what they are but would benefit from some softening (perhaps modifying the foam?). They grip well in softer mud and gravel, but seem to lose grip on smooth slippery rocks (most of my crawling is done in water worn stream beds and among glacial deposited boulders). Tires do have real bead locks which is pretty dang cool. I also think the tire do get better after spinning on rock to break them down a bit. The motor and servos are well up to the task and I never find myself wishing for more power. Battery life is about 40 mins of hard driving. Remote is comfortable and easy to understand and set up. About the only downside is the steering indicators are a bit dim in bright light and can be hard to see. I'm pretty new to crawling but not to RCs and I cannot believe I didn't get this years ago. I have more fun climbing rocks and such than I do ripping and bashing my other cars. To me this is the true off road RC adventure! If you like the challenge of picking a line and trying to make it work, than give this amazing machine a go. If you like it, the upgrades available for this are mind boggling, and if you don't find the thrill, then you have not invested a ton and are able to resell it for minimal (if any) lose.

I bought this as my first crawler. It's quite impressive, performance wise. The 3 steering modes are very helpful. It has decent power with a 2s lipo battery that I added. It's very capable and a lot of fun. Really an excellent bang for the buck. I added weight in the tires and took the foams out. These 2 minor mods made a big difference. The tires are ok'ish. They get grippier with use. You really can't expect any more than what you get for the money. This a great value and I really don't think there is a machine that can compete in this price range. All that said, I ordered a redcat gen 8 a week later. I liked that all parts on the danchee are readily available when something breaks. What I didn't like about this crawler is lack of upgrades. The suspension and steering links are plastic and have a lot of flex when in a slight bind and there's no metal links to replace them with. I also wanted something a little more realistic. The motor on axle setup provides really good performance and articulation but at the expense of losing driveshafts and the realistic looks you get from them. It just doesn't have the quality look and feel you get from hobby grade machines. My son is now enjoying the heck out of the danchee. It will actually do some things my gen 8 won't do at 3x the price. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to get into a crawler on a budget, just don't be surprised if it leaves you wanting more.

This thing is awesome for is price. Fit this one for my kid because he's broken every cheap big box store rc I've gotten him. I wanted something hobby grade, but kid friendly. This thing is a beast. Way mire capable than i expected. I ordered 2 extra batteries thinking the small one would die quicker, but it lasts almost a full hour. Crazy. Whether you're a beginner like him or more experienced with rc, you will enjoy this thing.

Ive had my Ridgerock for a few months now and absolutely love this truck! For the money, it cant be beat. This truck even outperforms my TRX4 that has extensive mods and cost about 6 times more. The Ridgerock motor on axle design and 4 wheel steering really give this truck a huge advantage over most other scale crawlers. The low center of gravity and overall balance of this rig makes it super capable and very fun to drive. Its very stable and always seems to give plenty of warming before it rolls, allowing you to make a correction and save it from a tumble. Poised it a great word to describe how it drives. The only real let down is the stock tires, they are too stiff for the light weight of this truck. Removing or cutting down the tire foams helps a lot and they eventually break in and work better. Replacing them with a softer grippier tire really makes this thing a winner. The wheels are true bead-locks so tire and foam replacement is super easy, no glue to mess with. Dont go too big though as heavier tires will take away from the performance. I'm currently using 1.9" Traxxas Canyon wheels and tires that have some treads cut for better traction. The smaller, lighter wheels give it more punch and just work bettr for me than the stock 2.2" but I will experiment more in the future, maybe the Traxxas Canyon 2.2" will be good. Overall power is good, not great but it gets the job done. Same with steering servos, work fine but if they fail its best to upgrade to something with a bit more torque. The truck has a perfect drag brake setting out of the box. Throttle control is excellent, very smooth and precise. It only has one mode, Crawl, which means neutral is brake and you have instant reverse by pushing the trigger forward. You can cycle through the steering mode with a button on the remote. A light on the controller displays the current setting. The choices are, front wheel only- rear wheel only- 4 wheel opposed- 4 wheel crab- This feature is amazing, especially on a truck in this price range. The turning radius is super tight and the multpile steering options give you a huge advantage on tough sections and add a ton of enjoyment to the overall experience. The battery that comes with it is fine but I run a 2200 2S lipo and get around an hour of run time, no need for anything larger as it will just add too much weight up high. So far, Ive had zero issues and the truck works great every time. Parts availibility is very good as this is a Redcat product. Two of my buddies have them now after seeing how well mine works and its a blast challenging each other on climbs. If youre looking to get into RC crawling or looking for a second rig that different than your scale 1/10 crawler, look no further. This thing is a beast! Buy one and thank me later, just prepare to spand hours in the woods playing with this truck, its so much fun!

Very capable crawler I didn't watch a review on unboxing it hope I did it right. Bunch inuts showing unboxing been unboxing stuff all my life and don't need to see your goofy face mister internet famous reviewer want to be. spend so much time on unboxing and trying to be cute they don't show vehicle running not great product reviews.The Owners Manual is missing a few things like one bag of plastic paces no idea what they are or where they go but since they sent like 8 of them its something that breaks guess ill find it at some point. Battery life is great lots run time unfortunately charge time take awhile be nice if had came with 2 batteries. The steering trim knobs on remote control are to ez to bump and throwing your alignment out be nice if they recessed once set so couldn't bump setting while crawling but is what it is. Great entry level RC for anybody no assembly just battery up and have Fun.

Cool little truck. I wanted something to just play around with and this is exactly what I was looking for. Like many other RC enthusiast have pointed out, this is not a cheap Wally World toy but a real RC truck. I have flown RC airplanes and Helicopters for over 25 years but because of time and costs involved had to lay down the sticks. I didn't want a Go-Fast truck but something that would take some skill to go over various terrain. If that's what you want then for the money this truck is awesome. It's not going to do what a 800 truck can do but I've read where many hardcore RC rock climbers have one of these in their fleet. It's really fun to test your skills. Again, it is not designed for going fast but if you want to spend hours of fun with your buddies, kids, etc. then I highly recommend. It's not waterproof nor does it have brushless motors, although there are those who have upgraded theirs but it is still worth twice the money...enjoy

Value for money given the price scale on RC Cars. This thing will climb a great deal more than you first expect if you are new to the RC world. Was blown away at the agility and ability of this mighty little beast. Designed for rock crawling at an affordable price, Danchee / Redcat, you guys kicked this one right out of the park. Awesome fun for all ages, as I'm 60 and love it because I'm a car guy. Buy, Drive, Enjoy.! I Did.!
