Hawaiian Dictionary, Revised & Enlarged Edition

I am a new Hawaiian language student, and this wonderful book allows me to look up words and definitions either from Hawaiian to English, or English to Hawaiian. I especially like this book because the font size makes it easy to read. I have visited Hawaii over 40 times in the last 32 years, and just wanted to be able to read and write the language. Now that I am retired, I have time to devote to perfecting my own use of the language and culture of my happy place. If you have simililar inclinations this book is a must.

Revised edition is a fabulous dictionary. Extensive word definitions and word origins. If one wants to truly study the Hawaiian language and its development, this dictionary is essential.

Thank you for getting it to me before my Heritage Bible. I just wanted to be sure when I dive into my native language Bible that I am able to understand it better since I am not fluent in my native tongue.

Now days you can google everything, but the Hawaiian language is not one of them. There are many great resources online but this dictionary is what you want.

As far as I understand this is the go to. Having worked in spaces where this matters and one is critiqued and graded it has never let me down.

Nice quality book

I used to have an early 1960's edition of Mary Pukui's fine dictionary, but in my many moves I lost it. Now I have this one, larger and easier to read than before. I love it. If you love Hawai'i, and if you like to use the occasional Hawai'ian word, you need to have this dictionary in your library. If you're actually trying to learn the language, this book is a necessary addition to the books you already have.

I love this dictionary! I looked up books to learn the Hawaiian language and this one was highly recommended, being probably the most in-depth Hawaiian dictionary there is. It's really interesting, and even though I don't know the grammar rules and sentence structure, it's just fun to look through it and start learning the vocabulary. I highly recommend it!

This dictionary is extensive and detailed. It would have been nice to have extra sections on numbers etc, but those things are easy to find online. I wanted it for translating songs and I am finding it very useful. Hawaiian words tend to have multiple definitions and this dictionary gives the full range of meanings with examples of use and extra information.
