These reviews stink like a three day old fish - highly suspicious given my experience and that phoney picture of rice laden with rich beef and vegetables. You get nothing but dehydrated rice and a few grams of freeze-dryed BBQ sauce that "may" have a minescule amount of beef in it. They may have emptied a #10 can of Mountain House dehydrated hamburger into a boxcar of rice to generate this "beef product" but that's the best I can guess. I'm glad I paid $10 for this junk and tested it at home before opening it after a long day on a peak. Nice package. PS, this is the first negative review I have ever given.

just try it out you won't be sad I promise
**Writing from my wife's account**I had a few others, this one and pulled pork were my top favorites though. I mean backpacking and BBQ or pulled pork, SIGN ME UP!We took a few tortillas along with us and after 30 miles of hiking and sitting down to a BBQ and rice backcountry burrito... that's bliss. Anyways, before I drool on my computer, just try it out you won't be sad I promise.

but compared to many other re-hydrated meals containing beef that I tried this one falls in the pretty good category
Compared to what I would make a home this one would fall into the average category, but compared to many other re-hydrated meals containing beef that I tried this one falls in the pretty good category. I found that once hydrated many of the beef meals were bland and the beef just tasted kind of like a mystery meat, but I could at least tell this one contained beef, it hydrated well and although I didn't feel it needed seasoned it could be moved into the very tasty category with a little seasoning. I found the advertise net weight of 4.23 was exceed by the actual weight of the food in the package which was measured at 4.55 ounces. This seemed to be common among the Campfire meals which I like because many brands tend to short you rather than give you more than advertised. There where approx 57 calories per ounce which is average for this type of meal and 40 calories from fat. The 11 g of protein is a pretty good number as well.I would add this one to my pack as a beef option if I wanted one, but again almost all beef options that I tried fell a bit one the average side making this one really only desirable by comparison.

Pretty good, tastes like you'd expect
This one is pretty good. I think it's one of the better tasting freeze-dried meals out there, but the "food to package ratio" is pretty ridiculous.

A MUST-TRY Backcountry Meal!
One of the two other meals I ordered from Campfire Meals, and it hit the spot, and then some! The ease of preparation, along with the quality ingredients and taste, make it a MUST-TRY backcountry meal!

Tasty, Filling Meal
A very tasty and filling meal with plenty of meat! Too many freeze-dried meals have only a hint of meat, but not this one definitely satisfies. I gave it 4-stars only because it could use a little more BBQ flavor; the taste is great, and if it just had a little bolder flavor I would definitely give it 5-stars.
