Then she released Tales of the Shadowhunter Academy and I thought wow, what an improvement and that the stories actually read like a novel. Now we have Ghosts of the Shadow Market and I still feel the same as I did for Tales. Cassie Clare has really honed her short stories craft to make them fun, informative, have meaning for the overall bigger picture. In this bind up we have all eight previously released short stories that sort of set up the stage for the final Dark Artifices. Also, we have two new short stories that take place after the end of Queen of Air and Darkness. These two new short stories also help set up the final arc in the Shadowhunter Chronicles. It was such a joy to read this and I am forever trash for this world and characters. Review: Full 10 stories in this book, rather than the 8 original Kindle releases! - I love this book, but was a little disappointed that I had to buy it. I had bought each story individually as they came out, but when the hard cover copy came out I realized I was missing two stories. With The Bane Chronicles extra story I just go to the hard back because it’s short, and I was able to find the short story from Lady Midnight separately to fill that gap in my Kindle. Unfortunately here I couldn’t find digital copies of the extra two stories with out buying the whole book. Given that I’ve read every other Shadowhunter book and am obsessed, I love these stories and the ability of them to make me laugh and cry... sometimes both.

Doesn't waste time rehashing characters in each story.
Several well-known Young Adult authors join with Cassandra Clare to pen 10 stories about Jem, Tessa and other characters from the “Mortal Instruments, “Infernal Devices” and “Dark Artifices” series in Shadow Markets of different locations and time periods. Unlike “Tales of the Shadowhunter Academy”, “Ghosts of the Shadow Market” doesn’t waste time rehashing characters in each story. By now anyone who’s read the series knows the characters, so constantly describing them in each story is boring and repetitive for those of us who know all about them. Thank you for not taking more than a quick sentence or two to tell us about them in each story. The stories take place between 1899 (when Matthew Fairchild was parabatai with James Herondale and Jem was still Brother Zacahriah) and 2013 (when Jem and Tessa are married and expecting their first child.) This time period is also when “Queen of Air and Darkness” ended, leading readers into what will definitely be a new series with Jace Herondale’s Thule double preparing to wreck disaster on the characters we’ve grown to know and love. Highly recommended for ages 14 and older.

Jem\Bro Zecharius long life is sketched in a series of short stories.
Jem is one of my favorite characters. So I especially loved how these tales filled in the gaps and mysteries of his world, while the genealogy of Shadowhunters marched through the books. I'm always leery of reading books which include other Authors but these writers are true to Cassandra Clare's world-visions. Loved the story of Livey's after life, greater understanding of Raphael, and the introduction of the child who would become Jace. Ms Clare introduces us to people of all places and backgrounds in both "reality" and her fantasy world. Every character is a reminder that there is good and bad in every group and culture. Bravo!

Five Stars!
I loved this. Sure, not every story was perfect, but it still gets five stars from me. I loved reading about Jem Carstairs, one of my favorite characters from the Shadowhunter Chronicles, and getting to learn more about him and see some of his past as a silent brother. Jem is the same wonderful, beautiful, amazing, wise human being that I remember reading in the Infernal Devices, and this has only made me love him more, if that's possible. My favorite of the stories was Learn About Loss. Ghosts of the Shadow Market has a place of honor on my self. If you're a fan of the Shadowhunter Chronicles, if you're a fan of Jem Carstairs, this is definitely worth the read.

I love everything about this book
*spoilers* This. Book. I will never recover. Jem has always been one of my favorite characters in the shadowhunter world, and this book was just so good 😭 finding out what he has been up to during his silent brother time was so interesting, but … the QUOTES in this book. I was unwell. One of the stories - no spoilers - had me crying in the middle of the shoe section in Target, while I was listening to the audiobook. No regrets.

Absolutely in love
I absolutely love this whole series. It is so thrilling and full of plot twists. I loved that she is diving back into the past, so you can get a good look at their family histories. Jem is one of my favorite characters and to see him through out the years is brilliant. I have read every single book in this series(more than once) and cannot get enough of them. You fall in love with every single character she brings in. Absolutely love this series!!!

I'm crying, this is beautiful!
The book (content wise) was amazing, great reading and made me cry a lot as a fan of the Shadowhunter chronicles. If you haven't read or are not a BIG fan of all the books don't really think you would get it. The quality is nice, I read it and has great illustrations per chapter that help you visualize all that is happening. Also it has the story of Rafael origins, as an orphan of the dark war. Very happy with the purchase!

I loved this glimpse into the other side of Cassandra Clare's fictional world. This collection of stories gives us an explanation of some of the events that happen elsewhere as it follows the intriguing Brother Zachariah (formerly Jem Carstairs) as he carries out a mission, over many decades, for his one true love. A lot of things in the other books make more sense when you read these stories.

I finally finished this masterpiece... after CHAIN OF IRON. I know you’ll go... what? Way too late man! I had so many other non Shadowhunter books to finish. Anywhoo, I totally recommend this. Cassandra Clare, you did it again. Another winner baby, and spanning so many generations omg
