Just a Great Book
"She didn't hurry as she walked to him. Something told her he was a man too used to people -- woman certainly -- rushing toward him. So she took her time, her long, slow strides flapping her borrowed coat against her chilly legs."THE STORY: Lieutenant Eve Dallas is a detective in New York in the mid-21st century. When the granddaughter of a powerful Senator is killed, Eve begins an investigation that takes her from the political powers in Washington and New York and the business powers where she meets the mysterious billionaire Rourke. Determined to solve the crime and prevent more death, Eve finds herself attracted to Rourke -- who might be the man she is searching for -- the murderer.OPINION: NAKED IN DEATH is one of my favorite books and is the book that I recommend to anyone looking for a good read. Intense, fun, romantic, surprising, this book has it all.Eve Dallas is one of the most well-rounded and interesting characters. She is powerful, smart and strong. She is well respected in her job and doesn't need rescue of anyone. She has a quick mind that the reader will want to follow as she uncovers the truth about the crimes she is investigating. At the same time, she is vulnerable and as readers learn more about her, her success only becomes more amazing.Rourke is mysterious and appropriately, readers know as much about him as Eve does. Sexy and dangerous, the question is raised whether this will be the man who ends up being the perpetrator of the horrific crimes that Eve is investigating. Eve's attraction to Rourke is both understandable and also possibly deadly. I am a fan of stories where the romantic involvement is questionable and might be dangerous to the hero/heroine.A bevy of intriguing secondary characters are set out here. Those characters will make reappearances in future books. Those characters will be fleshed out and the lives further revealed so readers can feel good about liking them. The pacing of the book builds tension as secrets are slowly revealed. I truly recommend not reading spoilers on this book -- not only because it ruins the mystery of the plot, but also because the character reveals are part of the character development. This is not merely a mystery, but the story always serves the purpose of character development. The close connection between story and character is one of the strengths of not only NAKED IN DEATH but the entire In Death series.I cannot recommend this book highly enough.WORTH MENTIONING: Content disclosure: This book and series deal in depth and seriously with rape and incest so those who are sensitive to those issues should consider themselves forewarned.FINAL DECISION: Fabulous book that crosses genres. Near time sci-fi mystery with a strong romance, NAKED IN DEATH demonstrates some of the best of all these by having great writing, emotional connections with and between characters, and an interesting and engaging plot. This is THE book that I give to friends who want a book recommendation.CONNECTED BOOKS: NAKED IN DEATH is the first book in the In Death series. The series follows Eve Dallas and the cases she investigates.STAR RATING: I give this book 5 stars.

Fun, and Suspenseful with Sizzling Heat and Wonderful Characters
When I started this series I didn't have this review blog and I just realized I have been selfishly keeping this series to myself. I just finished reading the 51st book, and was reflecting on how much these characters have grown since the first book. So I pulled out the paperback to read and found the print too small to read. So now I have a project, to get the rest of these books on my kindle because sometimes I just want to do a reread. In this book we meet not only the troubled NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas but also the irresistible, charismatic, and gorgeous billionaire Roarke. All set in 2058, which at the time seemed like a long time into the future.Eve is haunted by her last case in which she had to terminate the perpetrator, not because of him but the circumstances around it. She is expecting to go through the mandatory testing in the morning but her commander assigns her a top priority all data sealed case overriding the testing. She is partnered with Captain Ryan Feeney, head of the electronics detective division, who was her mentor as she travailed the ranks. The victim Sharon DeBlass is Senator DeBlass' granddaughter and he thinks he can run things his way.The biggest clue in this is the weapon, a .38 caliper Smith and Wesson handgun at one time standard police issue, now banned and a collector's item. There aren't many out there and the list of owners isn't very long. One name that comes up as a possible owner of such gun and who's name also appears in the victim's address book is Roarke. Eve is confident she can get to talk to him although Feeney is skeptical. She's unsuccessful until the funeral, and Roarke is surprised to find out she's a cop. His cop radar didn't go off and he's certainly attracted to this feisty police lieutenant.Roarke invites Eve to see his collection and offer his weapon for testing. Now that was an interesting evening. I had forgotten how Summerset treated Eve in those first books.More bodies are showing up, and with the first one sealed it limits what can be said to the press in an effort to gain public support. We meet Nadine Furst, the persistent journalist as she tries for more than just the press conference drivel. We also meet Eve's best friend Mavis as she sings and dances at The Blue Squirrel an interesting venue, that also becomes her spot to meet with Nadine.Things with Roarke heat up as Eve eliminates him as a suspect and there's many twists and turns before the pieces come together in this page turning read.I will will be reading these in order all over again. It's fun to go back to the beginning and meet everyone.

Unpredictable End!!!!
Finally I had the chance to understand how the Eve storie’s begin. It was better than I thought, It holds your attention and It was unpredictable to discover who was the murderer. The author has the abilitty to create an futuristic world that you are capable to imagine yourself in it.

A must read!!!!
I bought a mass market paperback of this book from Amazon since the paperback was too expensive.while not as great as a paperback in quality, Mass market paperback was still good enough and cheaper in this case so I went for it.This book is the first in the "In Death" series by J.D.Robb aka Nora Roberts and it is totally smashing. it is one of my most favourite series and I love this book for so many reasons. the story of Eve and Roarke starts here, with murder between them. the case, the plot and the love story, everything is just perfect. just pick it up and read it. trust me you will not be disappointed. I have read it so many times in just the past year and I am still not over this book or this series. Go for it people!!
