Crazy Cat Lady recommends Merrick...
If you are trying to find a good quality pet food and have been scared away from premium brands due to cost like most pet owners seem to be; I'd urge you to do the math on price per ounce before making that decision to feed Fluffy Meow Mix. I have two cats, a 15 year old and a 6 year old. They've typically been fed the mid-higher quality diets and are wonderfully, healthy indoor cats luckily. After I lost my job though, I was scrambling trying to find a cheaper alternative. While at first, it may seem like the 24 pack of Meow Mix at 16 dollars is a better deal than a 24 pack of Merricks for 35-40 dollars - you have to see what you are paying per ounce. The Meow Mix was 2.75 ounce each, or 66 ounces total. The same case of Merricks is 132 ounces. Ah ha! Now, which is the better deal? Not only is this people quality food with less filler, none of the nasty meat-by-products and preservatives like you find in lower priced pet food; it is the better bargain. My cats eat less of this food than they do the lower priced brands (ie, Fancy Feast, Meow Mix, etc) They tend to eat the entire portion of Merrick's and would sometimes leave part of the other food in their dish, so you waste less in that manner as well. The food seems very digestible to both my furry critters. One would occasionally yark if he ate too fast or something and that has really cut down after getting them on the Merrick diet. Their coats are healthier, the litter box even stinks less, so that tells me that the so-called bargain brands are not a deal at all. If you are thinking of maybe switching your pet to a better quality food - please do! It will keep your pet healthier in the long run and avoid vet visits so that is a huge savings also. Plus your animal will thank you for the better diet. I have also tried the Before Grain which is also made my Merrick's and both my cats loved the dry and wet versions. Yes, they are do seem to be more expensive at first, but I encourage you to do your own tests to find what works best for you, your pet and your budget. My felines seem to love this flavor the best of all the Merrick's offerings. New England boil - not so much though. Merrick's also offers a variety pack so you can let your felines taste sample and find what ones they like best. One other note to pass on, is the expiration date is printed on the bottom of each can. I've not had any issues with expired cans ordered from Amazon, but if you should choose to find this food at your local pet store, you may want to check those dates. I had one unfortunate encounter with an expired, rotten can which is not the fault of the pet food, merely a stocking issue that has since been corrected. I imagine it was due to the fact of it being a higher priced food, the stock just wasn't being used up enough so I got an old one. I never even knew there was an expiration date until then. Hope this information helps you in your purchases and you and your cat enjoy a long, healthy, lovely life! :-)

Happy and Healthy Cats
We have 4 cats ranging from a 21 lb Maine Coon to a tiny 6 Lb, 9 month old rescue. Before switching to this cat food I tried many other "healthy brands" which one or more of my cats so I kept looking for one that all my cats would enjoy. I started feeding them Merrick canned and dry over 7 months ago and have noticed great improvement in their coats, even our big shaggy Maine Coon (who now doesn't require as much grooming as before), their activity level and their overall health. They eat less because the high protein does the job to satisfy them, no more begging between meals :-).My Vet is adamant about grain free as he has seen over his many years in practice that the majority of cats on Grain included and Dry cat food have developed diabetes. We do give our cats Merrick Dry for a night-time snack because they like the crunchy taste but we stick to the canned for the bulk of their diet. One thing that I'll mention, which is not a "con" for this product but is worth mentioning. On Merrick, as with other foods, they all still had smelly poops. I started adding a feline digestive enzyme to the cans of Merrick at each meal and there is now practically no smell. Both canned and Dry cat food of any brand cannot add this enzyme into the recipe because it breaks down and is ineffective by the time it reaches your pet. Just as with humans a digestive enzyme is most effective fresh at meal times so it needs to be added just before eating. Besides the better aroma in the house, your pet will get more health benefits from this well made cat food if an enzyme is added, just make sure that it is a Feline Enzyme, Dogs are different animals. Don't feed your cat an enzyme made for dogs or one that claims to work for both cats and dogs. Go feline all the way!!Last, but not the least, all 4 cats love this food and there are so many wonderful and healthy flavors to choose from. Our cats will remain on Merrick for a long and healthy life.

Don't quite know how to evaluate
My opinion of Merrick is that it is an excellent pet food. My cat, however, would not eat this. He ate a little and then left it in his bowl all day. Since he is a pig, he must have really disliked it. I finally gave up and fed it randomly to the small dogs. Also being pigs, they gobbled it right up. No point in buying it again.

My Two Cats LOVE this Wet Food Mixed in with Their Dry Food!!
Our two cats love this Tuna Pate grain-free wet food and I like the high quality of Merrick products. We feed our cats half Fromm Tunachovy grain-free dry food and half Merrick Tuna Pate wet food. Cats should not have dry food only and one 5.5 oz. can of this food = 6 servings mixed with dry. I take 1/3 can, heat in microwave for 10 seconds and then split in half to mix with dry for each cat. Sometimes I even put a tiny bit on top of my rescued Maltipoo's dry food to entice her to eat! Our cats will eat canned chicken or turkey if I buy one can every now and then for a change, but they will leave food in the bowl - they NEVER leave food in their bowls when they get the Merrick Tuna Pate!!

Recipe or ingredients must have changed
Our cat usually gobbles the can of tuna cat food up. This was his favorite wet cat food until I received my last order. The price went up so I didn’t order it for a long time. I got it recently ’cause it went on sale. I’m disappointed because I feel I wasted my money.

Save yourself from a vet bill if you feed your cat Merrick tuna!
In the beginning my cat loved this tuna pate. But now after facing a visit to the vet she has been suffering nearly a week from diarrhea. A few weeks before after digesting a meal of Merrick tuna, she vomited. I thought it was a hairball that caused the incident. But now I have to admit that there is something sadly wrong with this food. Do yourself a favor. Don't buy it!

My cats don't love it
I ordered this food because it appears to be a healthy option and the case price is cheaper on Amazon than it is at Rens and PetSmart. However, of my 4 cats only 2 of them will eat a very small amount of this food at a time so I have to give them something else as well because they won't eat just a plate of this, and only once in awhile. If I give it to them more than once a week they won't eat it. That was disappointing because 3 of them will usually eat anything, so I'm guessing it's not one of the better tasting cat foods??If your cat likes this food then I would definitely recommend buying it from Amazon because the price is great and you don't even have to leave your house to get it!!
