This is a great book that has been a top seller for many decades. First written in the early 1900’s and still inspiring.

I’ve personally enjoyed this book and given it as a gift to many people. Each one has enjoyed it. It has a quick, short, inspiring message for each day and somehow it always is appropriate. Can’t recommend it enough.

This is an excellent book, timeless wisdom. I like that this copy doesn't have a dust jacket but a lovely blue hardcover without the tendency to tear like a dust jacket does.

This is the most encouraging devotional! I have gifted this book at least 4 times. It has been a game changer in my relationship with God and my understanding of His character and His love for me. A friend recommended this book to me and now I use it for a bible study with several other friends.

I own many devotional books, but this one is my favorite! This classic book, released the same year as Oswald Chambers' "My Utmost for His Highest", has been edited by James Reimann. It maintains the original beauty of the language and ideas while making it more reader-friendly for the readers of today.Mrs. Cowman used many sources to come up with her the readings in this wonderful book. There is a list in the back of all the people whose works she had read in compiling this devotional.In my opinion, one of the most useful features of Streams is that it has a Scripture Index. If you are studying a certain book of the Bible or specific passage, you can find out which days' devotions contain discussion of that particular Scripture. I lead a small group Bible Study in my home and I use Streams almost every week to gather information on the chapter we are studying. Streams in the Desert also has an Index by Contributor and a Subject Index.I have given this book as a gift several times to people going through difficult times. People tell me that God really used this book to speak to them during their time of need. This devotional isn't just for people going through difficult trials -it is an excellent daily devotional on it's own.Whether you use this book in your daily devotions, or for researching specific passages or topics, this is a must-have for any Christian's library! The CD project by the same name is an excellent album also.I have wanted to write a review of this book for a long time, but have hesitated because I knew that I could not do it justice. Nearly written 100 years ago yet incredible timely! Mist have devotional

I’ve purchased many devotional books, and I’m happy to add this one to my collection. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who is going through a difficult season. Every single page has uplifted me, reminded me of God’s plan, and shown me to embrace the journey I’m in right now…such a perfect book! And, it’s so great that I’m purchasing it for my loved one.

This is a nice devotional book that emphasizes surviving hard times. It was written in 1925 by a woman who cared for her ill husband for 6 years until his death. Robin Roberts (Good Morning America) and her sisters read it every day; this is how I first heard of it. I bought this hard back edition used, and it was in excellent shape.However, in this print edition that I purchased, pages 129 - 160 are duplicated, and 161-192 are missing. So clearly someone was having a bad day when printing it out and binding it. I don't know if this is a widespread problem with this print edition in general, or it was some fluke with a limited batch. I didn't notice the problem right away, unfortunately.

I have the original but ordered the updated contemporary version for a friend. Easy to read, encourages your faith during difficult times. None of the silly “now that you follow Yeshua, life is perfect “nonsense.

If you’re looking for an encouraging and comforting daily devotional, go for this one. I’ve been reading and rereading this devotional for 20 years now. I often buy it as a gift for friends during tough times and have purchased copies for my teenagers. Although this was originally written many, many years ago, it is as relevant as ever. It, like the Bible, is timeless and contains timeless words of wisdom and encouragement.This is a paper back copy (it’s a hard cover one I’ve had for 20 years) but it’s still lovely quality. It takes you day by day through the year. Each day’s reading starts with a Bible verse. It then goes into words of wisdom - sometimes thoughts from inspirational Christians, teachers and missionaries from the past, sometimes short stories and often days ending with a poem. It is a revised edition, so the language used is relevant and easily understandable. It sets out to daily remind the reader of God’s great love and faithfulness through the hardest times of life. Although I’ve accumulated a large selection of devotional over the years, this one has remained on my bedside table and I seem to continually go back to it. This is my top recommended Christian devotional and I’m personally very thankful for it.
