Good appearance, hard durable surface
Years old my floor was pretty beat up. An hour or so of sanding and three coats of this varnish gave me a great hard finish

Best Satin one part Polyurethane varnish
Interlux makes the best varnish and one part polyurethane. It goes on so well and with a good china hair bristle brush you can feel how the layer off varnish is spreading out for a good uniform layer. This is Satin, I have also used Interlux Clear Compass and it is so smooth and bright glosssy shine. I have used on my boats but now I am using this Goldspar Satin for some house interior work like basement and garage wood stairs. With good air circulation and lower humidity's and temps in the 60-70's the paint dried in 5 hours. This one part poly is so much better than the hardware store name brand poly's. It goes on better, a thicker coat and drys to a nice hard and good traffic protection that last for so much longer. This Satin does not have UV filters with the poly so not to be used for outside or areas with high UV exposure. Interlux has other varnishes and poly's that have UV filters for the outdoor use.(Compass Clear by Interlux is one) They are however not in a satin finish. Only glossy. Oh, this product also has excellent flattner and leveling additives so when is starts to dry it is a nice flat finish as in no brush strokes or bubbles in the finish. You will like this product. Never use the can for dipping your brush into and applying the product with. Always pour the amount needed into a clean plastic container like a Yogurt container and apply from this container. Otherwise the can of poly will become contaminated with dust, wax, oils, and dirt from the surfaces you are applying product and then being introduced into the can and spoil the product. The varnish or poly will then develop a hard skin on top after being stored with the lid closed and could make the product unusable for future use.

Label and catalogue description is misleading
I thought I was buying a traditional alkyd resin spar varnish. When I opened the package the small print on the label identifies the product as a polyurethane varnish. Polyurethane is worthless on boat brightwork. Only a true spar varnish holds up under high uv exposure. Upon attempting to return the product I was advised that it is considered hazardous material and cannot be shipped back. This would probably be a fine product for interior use, but the product description should make clear that it is urethane and Intended for interior use only.
