How do you replace a clasp that has broken?

Get another clip and a o screw ring to attach it

How big are the clasps on cable for up to 35lbs? I just order one and they were so ridiculously huge I had to return it.

They're a smaller clasp but sturdy.

is it strong or does it pop easily

It's strong I have a German shepherd. The plastic coating eventually started to come off exposing the cable but it never popped on me. I felt that I got my use out if it for the price.

Would this work in the sand?

As long as you can anchor it securely it should.
