how long do they maintain before using them ?

I used mine within couple days, very healthy scoby. Now have lots of scoby babies in a holding hotel. Very impressed and would recommend.

Is the liquid starter the liquid the scoby comes in. I didn't receive anything separate to add with the water, sugar and tea as the listing suggests.

Yes that’s right. Just add it all into your cold tea. I’m on batch 5 and it’s fantastic. Green tea works much ,much better than normal tea in my opinion. And my baby scoby is growing nicely. Enjoy and stay safe

how much kombucha will this make? does it continue to keep growing for bigger batches or not?

I have made several litres of Kombucha, but the Scoby is still the same size, not grown and I have been told should last a long time, although this is unverified. Also please note, drink sparingly to begin with for your body to get used to a small daily amount, which you can then increase. I did not know that and got an 'upset tummy' from too much too soon!

Does it have to be green tea that is used?

No, I use fruit tea too and I also flavour the green tea with herbs and fruits etc. Experiment and have fun! Also Kombucha with green tea tastes different from hot green tea! 😉😊
