Never thought I'd ever need a voltage transformer. I mean, most electronics support universal voltage these days right? Well, Xbox One apparently doesn't. My roommate brought his Xbox One from Europe, and it couldn't run properly here. After some research, I think we need a transformer. There are cheaper options out there for sure, but for electricals, quality, stability and durability are always the most important. So we chose this one as it seems to have a long history of reputation, and a reasonable price. The product came in with a nice compact look. A bit heavy, but we aren't throwing it around anyway. Some reviews complained about the smell, but I think it is not that bad, why would you keep a transformer around your face? Operating it was pretty straightforward, select the voltage on the back at 110V, plug it in, plug the Xbox in the 220V Universal outlet, turn the transformer on, turn the Xbox on, AND IT WORKS! Till today we have been using it for 3 months now, and it never failed us. We sometimes also used it for my small mixer from China (rated at 250W) and it also worked perfectly. Do pay attention to the suggested wattage though, a 500W transformer doesn't mean it can run 500W appliance, as electronics tend to have a voltage spike when turned on. Some common sense from an engineering student :) There are spare fuses, so you still have a second (and a third) chance. Overall I would recommend this product.

The unit is not designed for frequent traveling but is an excellent companion to have when staying somewhere long term and it's small enough to load into luggage if you're okay with the added weight. I had an upcoming extended trip wanting to bring my coffee pot so I chose the 500W unit. The unit powered my laptop, multiple smaller devices and even a small coffee pot simultaneously through a power strip, it also ran a rice cooker and xbox 360 without issue. The USB port was convenient but had a difficult time maintaining the higher amperage ratings for fast charging on some devices. Other 'travel' optimized transformers in this price range are more convenient but you usually wind up with a lower wattage rating. My only note is that users need to verify the actual supply voltage from the host country, there are multiple jumper settings on the back and it's important to ensure the jumper is set on the correct voltage.

I only gave this 4 stars for a couple of reasons - 1) it constantly smells like burning plastic while in use 2) We found out the hard way that the fuse inside of it that it comes with is not of good quality However, after saying that, it did work pretty good! You DO need a plug adapter for the end of it to plug it into the country's sockets (unless you're in the US). We did get stopped in airport security so they could test it. And the box is currently being held together by only duck tape. But if you can handle those few things this is a very handy converter. Word of advice!!! BUY EXTRA FUSES BEFORE YOU LEAVE. And bring a screwdriver to open where the fuse is located if possible. I didn't have a screwdriver but a pair of tweezers's did the job just fine. I can't stress how important it is for you to bring extra fuses with you. Unless you want to wander down the streets of Dublin (in our case) for an hour+ trying to find some. We got about 5 extra and only had to use one after the first fuse blew. By the way, the first / original fuse blew on our first day there. So please, save yourself stress and a headache, take the fuse to your local store before you leave, and buy some extra. All-in-all I would recommend this converter as it did its job well.

I bought this for a pre-owned Germany vintage stereo collection. Seller was kind enough to tell me that it only works on EU 230V so I need a voltage converter for US 110V. He also recommend this brand that he’s been using since 2019, which I’m glad I listened. Compact size, very sturdy product, works perfectly since I received them!

This step-up/down transformer is just what's needed to match any input voltage to any required output. In my case, I'm stepping up voltage from US 120 VAC to British 220. Very simple set-up: just select your input voltage on the back of the transformer, and the universal 220 volt socket on the front supplies current to any 220 VAC plug. The only thing you have to be careful about is to make sure your transformer is rated at a greater number of watts than the appliance you're plugging into it It has an on/off switch on the front, and, as a bonus, also provides a USB charging socket. I have the 500 watt model, which wouldn't be powerful enough for, say, a hair dryer, but it powers my guitar amplifier with no problem. It's a bit on the heavy side for travel, but when you need one, you really need it.

Unquestionably the most nasty smelling product I have ever purchased. So bad that, despite that it functionally works, I am giving it one star to make sure people understand the problem with this product. Something about the lacquer used on the outer shell is straight up toxic. It smells like someone is spraying spray-paint in your nostrils. It smells like you are huffing paint thinner. I've smelled plenty of freshly manufactured, cheap Chinese products before. You let them off-gas, and you move on. I've had this for 48 hours, and the smell is as strong as when I opened it. In fact, it was in a box, within an Amazon box, and I could smell it before I even opened the outer box. The gas is so bad that my entire living room smelled like gas after one night. The rubberized feet on the bottom are also made of some sort of degrading rubber. It is like hardened tar. Each of the four feet left thick gunk on my hardwood that I had to scrape off.

I am from the U.S. I work overseas in an area that requires me to use 220v. I have had this little puppy for about a month and a half. It is a solid product. Yes it's a little heavy, so if your trying to carry it around in a book bag, which some other whiny reviewers make it seem like, it might be annoying. Pay attention to the directions and put the pin (in the back) in the correct location so the device knows your going from i.e 220-110, and you wont blow your product up the day you get it! My device stays on I'd say 24/6. I try to give it a break every now and then. I have had zero problems yet. p.s Also pay attention to how many watts your pumping through it. Look up the watts of your devices before plugging in your house into it.

I give it a three star rating because it works OK. I found wire-wound transformer inside is loose to slide back and forth, all four mounting screw is loose, since the heavy transformer inside is free to move for a 1/4 inch as I am handling the unit, the grounding might not be secure with the case and other hardware. After I opened the unit to inspect, the grounding lack of star washers to secure it in place. A safety concern. Secondly, the little fuse is not marked the voltage or amperage, I check the instruction manuel that comes with the unit, it only mentioned use a slow blow little fuse of same voltage amerage, but no-where is mentioned or marked on the unit or fuse to provide the info, it even did not have a customer service contact number listed in the instruction. Definitely a sign of poor quality control and customer support.
