While the product does not come with instructions, I feel like that's not necessarily a drawback. If you are peeking inside a toilet tank and getting your hands in it, you should have some kind of knowledge of what you are trying to accomplish. Regardless, this is a very simple and straightforward replacement, and if you need help you can search the internet as easy as you can search for the product on Amazon. Quality is OEM and solid. These will last a minimum of several years with normal use / environment. The use of chemical agents in the tank water will increase the degradation of items in the tank, so it's not advised. A simple 30 second swap wil ltake care of a leaky, aged flapper. It does come with the chain and clip for easy attachment to the handle rod. No need to re-use or remove the old chain and clip. Economical and functional.

Been in my house roughly 4 years and just started to notice my toilet was running every few minutes. Found that my old flapper started to deteriorate causing a hole in the top which was leaking water. Luckily when I flipped over the lid, a fancy diagram with the flappers product number was listed. Shipping was fast and the product is a direct Koehler replacement. My toilet is now quiet with no leaks, saving me money. It was super easy to remove the old one and install the new, this took me all of 30 seconds.

Perfect replacement for broken flapper on 8 yo toilet (it should have lasted longer though - Kohler issue). Part number now has GP prefix, but it's the same size (and looks the same). Doesn’t last very long - had to replace these every 5-6 years on the toilets with regular use. I make sure to have one on hand always and order another when I use the one in stock. May be a design flaw. The rubber is fine but the hinge/pivot points break so that it no longer sits right and doesn’t create a seal. One tip noted in other reviews as well - look under the cover of the tank lid for a list of parts on Kohler toilets. Flappers are different, but that will show which part number you need.

This is exactly what I needed. I had to replace a 7 yr. old flapper so I purchased a Kohler flapper at HD and I didn't know that it was the wrong one. It was for a 2 piece toilet. I installed it and it kept leaking water and giving partial flushes all by itself. I looked on Amazon and found this and it is PERFECT. It's for a one piece toilet which IS what I have. It seals the opening and doesn't leak. I also took off the top of the tank and when I turned it over, I found a diagram of all the Kohler parts and their numbers. The number matched the number on Amazon! None of my local stores had this part. Why do I bother going to the store when I can find everything I need on Amazon?

This was the correct flapper for my one piece toilet. I had purchased another, but it was just a 1/4 inch too small and didn't seal properly. Easy to install and working well.

This is a great, quick fix for a worn flapper. Any time you hear your toilet running longer or you hear water when you think the toilet should be idle, this should be one of your first parts to check. I have hard water and find mine go every 2-4 years, especially in our powder room which is used less than the main baths. Don’t go only by the main flapper body itself. Mine tend to look fine, but I find the rubber area that fits onto the plastic hinges is what goes first, and the flapper doesn’t fall promptly, or gets stuck. Even cleaning it with vinegar helps only temporarily- they just wear out. There are aftermarket brands but I use the Kohler part since the price is similar. The install is easy, and the chain for the interior handle bar is included.

For those of us who bought this and the arms are spread too narrowly, this is for a ONE-PIECE toilet. Those of who have TWO-PIECE toilets need a different flapper model and should order this on Amazon, note it has a “5” stamped on it: Kohler K-GP1078441 PART GP1078441 FLAPPER FOR TWO-PIECE TOILETS WITH CLASS FIVE TECHNOLOGY, 3-1/4 In, Red. Unfort, I ordered this wrong one in Nov and just tried it today. Return windowbis closed. Serves me right for trying to prepare. Couldn’t figure out why the package says Class 5 and Memoirs style but didn’t fit. Looked at the old one I’d thrown out and sure enough, arms are spread wider and it matches the two-piece model I’ve listed.
