Nikon D7000 CLS Flash Companion (Magic Lantern Guides) Paperback – January 3, 2012

I have many books on the D7000! I pre-ordered this book, and couldn't wait to get it. I have the SB-700 flash and this book has chapters on each of the SB-700,800,900,910 flashes. Excellent book, lots of step-by-step instruction, graphs, and screen shots of how to set in-camera.Book is easy to read, and perfect size to fit in my Lowpro Fastpak 100 camera bag (with my flash in soft case).Great book on the CLS system!

Magic Lantern produces a series of books on Nikon's CLS for each Digital camera in the Nikon line-up. If you really want to learn how to select and use the right flash for your Nikon DSLR, these are the books you need. They are well-written with many illistrations and will introduce you to lighting techniques you probably never considered.

Like all reviews this is personal experience. That is the nature of the beast. Here are the reasons I like this book. It is easy to read. This means I can see the print and make it out. It is well written. Have you ever tried to read the User's Manual from Nikon? If you rely on them your patience is astounding. Are you experienced in photography? So am I, but not in digital photography. It is a totally different ball game. Nikon assumes anyone who buys their cameras knows everything they need to know about their use. Dream on.If this is such a great book, why only 4 stars? My two flashes are the Nikon SB400 and SB700. Both good flashes with different capabilities. The book mentions both of these but, naturally concentrates on the more expensive Nikon SB910. I am able to get valuable information from this book by reading between the lines and applying what I learn to my flashes.My recommendation of this book is for serious amatures. If you are an experienced professional why would you bother with this?

One of the best tools available on a market to understand Nikon CLS. It is doesn't matter what you have - Nikon D7000 or Nikon D800 - law of physics working the same for all models.. Buy it if you want to learn more about different flash lights and understand CLS deep inside.

I was hoping for a guide about using speed lights on my D7000. Most of this guide is a history lesson on Nikon speed lights and cameras. The section of the guide dealing with my speed light the 700 is about as useful as the manual.
