The Camera Assistant: A Complete Professional Handbook

Perfect.

Written in a fun way, I dig this book so far. Haven’t finished it, but it has some pretty useful info in it. I think some of it is kinda dated for more technical aspects. But if you’re young and just starting out or going Through film school- I think its a really good read.

This book is excellent I have been studying cinematography a while now and decided it was time to learn what it takes to be a camera assistant so I can start looking to get in at the bottom that leads to being a dp some day. Well you can not go wrong with this book it tells you the facts and in a very comprehensive manner but easy to understand. Best money I have spent in a while on the subject of the practical side of the business.

The author shares a lot of his personal experience which is a huge help who have yet to experience working in "the real world" and he explains technical subjects so they are easy to understand. It was a great refresher course for using film, a similar version for digital media would be helpful as well.

There are so many helpful guides in this book for film making. My professor carries this with him every where he goes just in case he needs help on how to shoot something.

The must have book for any Camera Assitant starting it's way through the film industry! And a must have referrence manual for any experimented AC!

Covers a lot about working as a camera assistant but the book is rather dated and focuses almost solely on film cameras.

This book is expensive so they should be able to afford to keep it up to date. I much prefer the cheaper nook Video Shooter, Mastering Storytelling Techniques cause it is about digital cinema where is this out of date book wastes your time teaching about film only as well as your money.

At some point it it obvious that the book was written a while ago but at the same time I found some really helpful tips in this book. I would definately recommend this book to anyone willing to learn more about Ac'ing.
