Great little radio
Good sound quality in a small radio set, and very easy to use - especially when you set the operating language to English, as it comes from Germany and the display is initially in German (Under the Menu options select "Sprache" - German for "language" - then scroll to English and select). Includes rechargeable battery too.

A very acceptable radio NOT made in China.
I bought this German made radio as I'm desperately trying to buy nothing that is made in China. It really isn't easy as all the big British names might be designed in UK but the manufacture is contracted out to Chinese companies, not that they always tell you this. If it doesn't say where it's made you can bet your bottom dollar it's made in China, even the big Japanese names. The only drawback to the Technisat is that you have to look up instructions in English online. Other than that it's great.

A great addition to our DAB radio family
We listen to the radio a lot! from the time we wake up until bedtime and we are very picky about the sound quality and functionality of the radios we use. We've got two different Ruark models which are excellent and a Revo, all of which are excellent and worth every penny of their relatively high cost. When we travel we've used a Pure Move radio which otherwise lives in the bathroom (very long rechargeable battery life) and we decided to get another one just for travel. Unfortunately they have stopped making them, all of the existing stocks out there have gone and there's no replacement model with the same features so we had to start the search again. To cut a long story short, we have ended up with this Technisat DigitRadio 1 and I can report that we are very happy with our choice and here's why.For a small radio the sound quality is excellent, well balanced and a pleasure to listen to on both speech and mainstream music. This will be in part due to the fact that the speaker screen hides two speakers, one of which adds some more bottom end to the sound. There are no available EQ adjustments but to our ears the sound is tuned just right. The rechargeable battery lasts well, is removable / replaceable and is basically a mobile phone battery of a common and readily available type which has got to add to the overall longevity of the unit. The controls / interface is designed for simplicity and ease of use with no unnecessary options. The instructions are only in German with no english translation but I had no problem mastering all of the settings in five minutes. It has no alarm functions so if that's what you want, don't buy this. The Radio is relatively light but looks and feels well designed and well put together. It is a quality, well thought through product. The reception of the DAB signal is strong and as just as good as our more expensive radios. Where we live some other DAB radios we have tried have really struggled. It's designed, manufactured and assembled in Germany, not made under contract somewhere in Asia as many big brand name radios are these days. I personally have no problem believing that many countries are capable of producing high quality goods but I do object when British or European brand names hide the fact that their badged products are made elsewhere. German design and manufacturing has earned a solid reputation for quality control and good labour practices. As far as I've been able to look into this company on the internet, what I have read gives me confidence in their products. All in all we are happy with this little radio and would recommend it to anyone for travel / bathroom / kitchen use.
