Does this work for appying an oil-based sealant to a wood surface such as pine?

These foam applicators are made for application of many different automotive cleaning products on many different surfaces. They will undoubtedly work for many things outside of the car care industry as well but we do not test on everything imaginable.

Can I use to apply a scratch remover product?

Yes you can. It makes it a lot easyer to do. However...if you have scratches that do not come out with this and your scratch remover, you will need to move to a wool pad or like a terry cloth towel to get more aggressive. Hope it helps!

Can I use the side with logo for polishing? This side is not as flat as the other side, I am afraid it maybe marring the paint

I always use the side to wax and polished on the no logo side . You can use both sides but I like to use one side only

How long will these last?

That depends on how aggressively they are used and what surfaces they are used on; however they are definitely washable and reusable many times.
