can I boil water in this teapot by placing it on an electric burner?

Yes on a low settings. Otherwise the bottom gets discolored. I boil water in these SS puts on the smallest ring and lowest flame on my gas cooktop.

What is the top Opening size?

The lid is on a hinge, and if you lift the lid the opening measures 3 and 3/4 inches across the top.

Can this be used in an airplane oven?

Very much doubt it, very poorly made, the lid came apart in the first week, so NOT used now, still I guess you get what you pay for😡😡😠

Is it stainless steel or a composit containing led? Any rust?

Stainless steel. I have been using it and no rust what so ever. I love it!
