Still in disbelief how well these work!
These work like a charm. It's amazing. Bella is a 10-year-old Belgian Malinois who is extremely excitable, stressed, anxious, and ornery. Nothing has worked to settle or calm her down. Even prescription anti-anxiety meds didn't help her. I am on our third or fourth bag, and I will not go back to how it was before these calming chews for all of our sakes. A month ago, I forgot to order a bag, and we went a few weeks without them, and she returned to her old anxious ways. We are a week back into the routine, and we are starting to see the calm take effect. She is still a busy Malinois, chases squirrels and lizards, and barks at people passing by, so it does not sedate her, but you can tell that she is more comfortable sitting and relaxing. She has a focus and composure that we have NEVER experienced, and she obeys her command so much easier than without the chews. The chews are easy to use, and I usually put them in her food. They are medium soft and look like a little piece of meat. She didn't love them at first, and I had to smash them up a bit and mix them in, but now she takes them whole with no issues. The smell when you first open the bag is strong, but I think letting them "air out" a bit before I give them to her helped.

Improves behavior even in calmer dogs and cats!
I don't have severely anxious animals, but that may be why this product works so well for me. I've given Composure to three different animals before occasions of particular stress (new people at the house, competition trial, public access training in crowded places, etc) while keeping the whole thing secret from my husband, who is thoroughly familiar with the animals' normal behavior. These are the results: Jules the cat, 4 years old, is generally sociable but avoids strangers and gets agitated when things change at home. He tends to express his anxiety by hiding, yowling and vertical scratching on walls. When given Composure before guests arrive, he's a completely different cat. Instead of hiding in our bedroom, he stays in the main living areas and even solicits petting from strangers. My husband pointed out how much friendlier Jules was acting before being told about the supplement. A dose of Composure also completely stops Jules' stress yowling and vertical scratching for a few hours. Amma the cat, 3 years old, is very outgoing and friendly and even solicits cuddling from complete strangers, often within moments of meeting. A dose of Composure before house guests seems to mostly make her sleepy. However, when given before a trip to the vet, she was noticeably less agitated and even allowed the vet to apply nose drops. On previous trips to the vet, she hissed at the vet and had to be wrapped in a towel to be given nasal vaccination due to escape attempts. Watson the dog, 9 months old, is a generally very calm and friendly puppy and is in training to be a service dog, primarily in scent work. However, being a puppy, he is easily distracted and has difficulty staying on task for longer periods of time. A dose of Composure before highly distracting and stressful situations, such as visiting an airport or taking a certification test results in a marked improvement in his focus and self-control. With low doses of Composure, he has been able to pass a Nose Work 1 level mock trial at 6 months old, and achieve a Canine Good Citizen title at 8 months old. Even more impressive, at 6 months old, he performed with exemplary behavior at a busy airport. He was able to follow commands and stay on task even through security, which involved him off-lead for several minutes and walking through the detectors separately from him, while a little girl (maybe 3 years old) toddled over to pet him! While this product may not be enough to turn the tide in cases of severe anxiety, it does seem to help markedly with mild to moderate occasions of stress. Along with Feliway and Adaptil, this is one of the best products I've encountered to help dogs and cats calm down and weather anxious situations.

palatable good quality pheromone-type product may help your dog
My dog really liked these "stinky" treats (that is dog language for they smell and taste wonderful). Although it was hard to pinpoint if they had a calming effect or not, I was giving them to her during a visit to my mom's where we have to leave her in the house without her crate (it doesn't fit at my mom's place) and we had no problems with her crying or getting into anything. She was a little more settled than usual, though, not sedated, just a little "zen", and I think that might have been the Composure having an effect on her. I am a long time veterinarian and wouldn't give her a product where I didn't trust the brand or the science behind the product. The best calming products work not by drugs but by following sound behavioral principles. The Composure treats have a patented colostrum complex that is supposed to evoke the safe feeling of a puppy with its mother, similar in fact to the concept behind pheromone products like D.A.P. (dog appeasing pheromone) and Comfort Zone. In fact, using the pheromone collars, plug-in diffusers, and sprays, along with this product could produce an additive effect. I was also using the Comfort' Zone spray at my mom's house. Recommend the Composure treats because they are a highly palatable, high quality product with good science behind the ingredients, and they may help your dog feel calmer, especially with chronic rather than occasional use. Veterinarian strongly recommends.

My dog HATES the taste but product seems to really work!
Purchased this product for my neurotic and phobic dog, specifically for the recent 4th of July fireworks, but more generally for the daily thunderstorms we experience here in central Florida in the summer. I gave this product an overall rating of 3 stars because the product worked as described when I was able to force-feed it to my dog. It would be an excellent value compared to other similar products IF my dog would willingly take it, but because she will not, makes it useless to us but not necessarily for you. I rated the taste and scent 1 star each and only because 0 stars wasn't an option. The following is my fully detailed review: I don't like the side effects she gets from Benadryl; melatonin (while very helpful) doesn't relieve her symptoms enough. I purchased this product based on the great reviews and good value for the money compared to similar type products. I also wanted something more natural but not in the CBD category due to the recent influx of counterfeit/unregulated products flooding the market. I was thrilled to try this product. I LOVE my dog and she HATES (duh!) taking "medicine." I love the idea of her getting the relief she needs without the daily fight to force-feed her medication only contributing to her fear response. Based on recommendations and reviews, so many dogs seem to love the taste and smell of these medicated treats that I felt excited to try them! My dog was NOT on the "love the taste" team. She took them with ease and excitement on the first day I tried them. I got them in time to do a trial run during a bad storm prior to the few days of fireworks for Independence Day that I knew would cause her constant shaking, stomach upset, and anguish. On the second day, when she would need the relief the most, she would not take them! I tried EVERYTHING to hide them, disguise them, and/or bribe her to take them with no luck. As previously reviewed by many, these have a strong odor that is impossible to mask with cheese, chicken, lunch meat, etc. My dog won't eat peanut butter so I don't know if that would help others. While these are comparatively small for "treats" they are very large as a medication that requires me to essentially shove them down my baby's throat. By the way, I have a small (under 10 pound shih tzu mix) dog so this may not be as problematic for someone with a larger dog. They are also a rough texture making me feel even worse about forcing her to take them without chewing them. Because I discovered this product too late to buy a substitute, I broke them in half and forced her to take them. That all being said, this product seemed to have worked exactly as described! We had the most calm 4th of July we have had in her young 4 year old life! We took our normal steps to help her: stayed nearby, turned the TV up loud, wrapped her snuggly in a blanket when she wanted, offered soothing comfort and support when needed while not making too big of a fuss over her. Her shaking and need to hide was greatly diminished, the constant panting was eliminated, she didn't experience the diarrhea she often gets when having severe phobia. While she didn't love the night of constant booming noises or the following days of idiocy to follow, she seemed far less distressed. I was thrilled with the effectiveness. Unfortunately, for us, this product isn't a consistent option. It might be great for someone whose dog only requires it a couple times a year. Forcing it into our baby on a daily basis for months in the summer will only add to her trauma. Sadly, because I had to use some of these, I don't feel I can pursue a refund or return. I will continue to try to find another similar product, maybe a liquid formulation, for our four-legged friend. I desperately wanted this to work for us. If you want to try it, make sure you don't have a picky eater or be prepared to force-feed it because, at least for my fur baby, she hates the taste! Do a trial run for several days before you really need them, in case your experience mimics my own. Best of luck to you and your family in your quest to find relief for your family pets. I did not receive this product free or discounted in exchange for a review. I found it on my own, researching as you are now.

Helps take the edge off
I've noticed a marked improvement in my dog's overall anxiety since getting these. He's seriously impressionable when something bad happens, and that has left with with anxiety and reactivity. For the first time in a while he's back to some old solid good habits! He used to LOVE sitting by our big window and watch people go by, until they started construction on a building next door and some of the workers would harass him through the window (Waving their hands shaking their head, getting up close and tapping the glass). They treated him like a zoo animal and would LOVE to get him bark, and would laugh at him freaking out. He went from relaxing by the window and happily watching people to standing on defense watching people go by and barking. After MONTHS of not seeing him relax by the window I finally for the first time yesterday saw him with his head down and him just RELAXING. He's also tends to be weary of males while on leash after a couple of bad encounters with our resident crackhead who would live in an alley near us, and he'd be over vigilant. He'd stand guard (after we were attacked by him) and bark at any approaching male NOT standing down, but after being on these he'll still bark, but he'll more reasonably move on and continue walking. The dosing isn't perfect, I found that 3 of these does it better than 2, and 4 is too much (he's 80 lbs), but overall very happy with this simple product. It's no replacement for training or a behaviorist but it definitely does help some days go by!

Made Things Worse
My dog hates being in the car. But he's a trooper. He doesn't whine, bark, or act up. I went on a road trip with my dog. Even though he's a trooper, I wanted to give him something to take the edge off, so I bought these so-called "calming chews" about 30 minutes before I started driving (just like the instructions say). it did nothing to calm him down. I could tell he was just as nervous as he usually is while in the car. Things got horrible about five or six hours into the drive. He started shaking uncontrollably. I didn't know why at first, but when we stopped at a rest stop and he started with the diarrhea, I knew it was because of this product because: 1) Even though he hates being in the car, being in the car doesn't mess with his bowels, and 2) the "calming" chew was the only thing different about his diet. The poor little guy was shaking because he will not pee or poo indoors or in a car. He was holding it for hours. I felt horrible. He went on to diarrhea poo four more times that day. Each one progressively more liquid than the last. My dog has never had such liquid poo. It looked like a gushing fire hydrant of liquid poo. Each time this happened I had to clean his bottom because he has long hair and the diarrhea got all over it. So no, there was nothing calming or relaxing about these chews. If anything just one of these chews completely ruined this leg of our journey. To make things even worse, now my dog associates this horrible feeling he had with my car. Now he won't even jump into my car. I have to pick him up and put him inside. Thanks for nothing, VETRISCIENCE. If you risk it and decide to buy this product, beware: it indicates no refunds or returns. I had to chat with customer service to get a refund. Luckily I don't have to send back this vile back of poisonous evil and it won't upset the stomach of some other unsuspecting pooch.

BEST SAFE CALMING CHEWS!
This is the best dog & cat calming chew on the market made in America.! Believe me I have tried so many, but this one really calms my two dogs. I have a 60lb mix lab pit and a 40lb Bull Terrier Target Dog. They relax during vet visits, horrible fireworks & thunderstorms. Let me further say, I use these when I dog sit my sons 65lb Schnauzer and the 7lb poodle mix. 4 dogs can be a wild bunch of hounds. To settle them down for night time rest for " me" they get 2 chews each and the little one half of one. They totally calm down and relax to sleep given that the home is dark and they also are tuckered out from playing all day. Please Believe me when I say these are the Best Chews. I've tried the chicken and peanut butter flavors. They line up for these chews! No allergies from its ingredients that are purely natural and safe. I told my Vet I used these and she agreed they work on her 8 dogs she rescues herself and travels with them to from work with them all Don't look any further. TRY THESE! Use the subscribe option with Amazon and save money. Follow the recommended amount to feed them to your pet. These also are available for Cats for you Cat lovers. Good luck and let those tails wag with calming joy!!!

Works very well for my restless old Cavapoo.
I started these about a year ago, maybe two. As my dog has aged, he just turned 14, he’s gets more and more restless and agitated. He’s been checked out by the vet, there’s nothing particularly wrong, he just roams and paces and seems like he can’t settle. I tried several prescription medications, including trazodone and Prozac, and some herbals, also from the vet… Some of these had contrary reactions, making him hyper, like trazodone, some didn’t seem to have any response, like the herbal, and Prozac made him a highly sedated stumbling idiot. Anyway, I finally found these Composure treats on my own and they have been enormously helpful. I give him two at about 3-4 PM when his restlessness usually starts or peaks, and then I give him another 1 a few hours later or as late as 9 PM. They don’t sedate him or knock him out at all, they just chill him out. He just seems more comfortable in his little doggy skin after he’s had a couple of these. I read a couple reviews where people’s dogs had bad reactions like diarrhea, and I know how that is, there’s nothing worse than dog diarrhea, except for maybe nuclear war, and to those people I say I feel bad for you and your dogs, but it’s not really fair to then warn off everybody and everybody’s dog just because your dog had diarrhea when it ate these treats. All dogs are different, just like people, and just because one or some dogs get diarrhea from a treat doesn’t mean all dogs will. Chicken gives my dog diarrhea, but some people probably feed their dogs chicken all day long and have no problem. Anyway, I don’t write a lot of reviews. I just think this is a great product that more or less saved my sanity and I love Vetriscience products in general, I feed my dog about five different types of Vetriscience products and have had great luck with all of them. And no, I don’t work for them and no, I’m not an influencer and no, nobody gave me any money to write this, I actually did it out of the kindness of my heart! :-)

So far pleased with the results
These worked for my shih tzu. She is bothered by loud noises on a regular basis. We are still experimenting with giving 1 pill daily then an extra when an event happens or just 2 whenever an event happens. So far pleased with the results.

Much better than meds prescribed by my vet
This works really well for my cocker spaniel who is terrified of thunder storms and fireworks. Much better than meds prescribed by my vet!
