Fix-it and Forget-it Christmas Cookbook: 600 Slow Cooker Holiday Recipes

Simple Simon Non-Christmas Cookbook
This book had recipes, however, 99% were not for Christmas, and most I have either fixed or just didn't like the recipe, so I was very disappointed. How can Election Lunch, Rice and Beans and Sausage, Sausage Stew, Mexican Goulash, Taco Soup with Corn, and many others be considered a Christmas cookbook? NOT! And here you have soups: onion soup, potato soup, tomato soups, these are not holiday foods. I was expecting tons of Christmas dishes such as desserts, appetizers, side dishes, and different dressings, drink mixes and more, not to mention your Christmas meats such as turkey, ham, maybe lamb and roast beef. But this is just another ordinary cookbook that has the same old thing as some of the other cookbooks, only this one was very misleading, and I've had better recipes that were more inviting than most of these here in this book. When a cookbook suggests Christmas or another holiday, then it should be just that and not an add-on of all these other recipes that have nothing to do with the holiday. So the next best thing for me to do, is to continue using my Martha Stewart and Julia Child cookbooks, as they have all the recipes for all the holidays and more. Now I just don't know what I had been thinking in ordering this book when I already had two masters in the field of cooking. Don't waste your money unless this is something that you would want to start off with as a beginner, as the recipes are easy, simple and a bit on the lazy side in lacking no creativity. Then I would say it would serve you. But most of the ingredients are just simple and non-appealing, with no excitement! This book will definitely be sold or donated or maybe given to a friend of mine who has a granddaughter who enjoys cooking.

Christmas + Slow Cooker = Winner
I love my slow cooker. I love Christmas. The combination of the two makes this a favorite cookbook. I have tried several recipes successfully. I think the recipes are easy to follow. They don't call for food that is hard to find. It would make a nice gift for cook with minimum cooking skills who wants to learn slow cooking for the holidays. Slow cookers are great during the holidays as they can remove a lot of the stress of what to cook after a day shopping. Coming home to a hot and ready soup is way better than having to cut, chop and cook. There are also great ideas for something easy to bring along to family/friend get togethers. Work parties are a breeze. Put together the recipe before you leave. Take the crock pot to work and let it cook while you work. Quite a few recipes will be done by the time the party starts. Love this cookbook.

Must have Christmas cookbook! (big or small families.. this cookbook has you covered!)
I have a bazillion slow cooker cookbooks.. so, when I found this one.. and it was on sale for a few bucks.. I tried to resist.. but, after reading the sample.. I HAD TO BUY IT!! I've devoured this cookbook! It has so many fantastic ideas for all of the winter holidays! Feed a crowd.. feed one or two. The recipes are so adaptable and easy! The thing I loved the most.. it has everyday ingredients. You don't have to run around town trying to find some oddball quirky ingredient that is impossible to find. These recipes are fun, wholesome and just tasty! I've tried a few of them.. and have not been disappointed.

fix it and forget christmas cookbook
my health isnt the greatest, and i can sit down and do most of the work. i love this book. i never really knew how to cook in a crockpot before. my family would only get a good meal from me about once a week. i saw this from a friend , that she got for a christmas gift. i borrowed it for a week. i am in so awe of it. i had to order from amazon right away for my own copy. i have since looked at other crockpot recipe books and have not purchased any. this is the best one on the market in my opinion. i have been able to try so many recipes thus far. i feel like a good wife and mom again , that i am able to cook more often and with such ease. thankyou so much.

Some great recipes
I found at least a half dozen good recipes but some are way out of my league for a beginner cook. Book is easy to read and follow.

My Go-To Crockpot Author
I bought this used so it was fairly inexpensive and there are definitely enough new good recipes to make it well worth my cost. I own another of her cookbooks and have bought her books as gifts for each of my kids when they set up housekeeping. Along with my children with homes and families - my college-age son uses one right now in his campus apartment. I recommend owning at least a couple of her crockpot cookbooks. This one can be used all year not just during the holidays - - - a nice go-to cookbook during hectic ( re: everyday! ) times.

Too many processed foods in the recipes. Bummer!
I was disappointed that so many of the recipes contain processed foods such as canned goods instead of being scratch recipes, but I am noticing this more and more with newer recipe books. I don't want canned/processed ingredients in my foods unless I have to. Putting in a can of Potato Soup is an example. That just drives me mad. It is not Cooking in my world. It made me want to trash this book, but I will take whatever recipes do not have those and cross the others out! Ugh.

great food but.
excellent recipes and you have to know your flavours to read through the recipes to imagine what they'd look and taste like as pictures arent in this book. its more of a bound book like someones made it at home. but i have to say, i am a cook and these are inspirational recipes and work. trust the name, this range of books ALL work! dont buy it if you need pictures and lots of glossy and hype, do buy it if you just want a flexible ring bound book of hundreds of fantastic tried and tested recipes for your home.
