Rippin Lips Super Cat Spinning Rod with Glow Tip Combo, 8-Feet/Heavy

I waited awhile to get this, even with prime shipping, and yet the first time I used it, the open reel did not work. it will not lock at all. keeps on spinning, so I just had a big rats nest of line every time I cast out. very disappointed.

Great rod and reel combo for a good price. I just received it and haven't taken it fishing yet, but I can tell you its a heavy duty rod to have survived the horrible packaging it came in. It was shipped loose in a large box without any newspaper or bubble wrap, the cardboard box was smashed and torn from other packages getting stacked onto it. when I picked up the box I could hear the rattling of the parts clanking together inside the box. I expected to find a smashed and broken rod inside. I inspected it closely and was surprised to find the guides still straight and nothing broken, It has one area that epoxy coating got chipped off on the rod from the abuse it endured. So, I guess if it can survive that battle its going to do just fine cranking in a big cat. Quality workmanship and a rugged design was found inside the box. If only the shipper had an ounce of the same values.

The rod is put together well, it is a two piece which makes storing an 8 footer easy. The two piece connection is solid and firm, it will not separate while fishing. The guides are great, stainless steel with ceramic inserts. Gel coating is top notch and everything seems put together on the rod very well. It has plenty of back bone for monsters and still offers some play to smaller fish. This rod is geared towards the heavier catfish so if your just catching 2-3 channels its overkill.The reel is smooth and the drag is powerful. Granted this is not a brand new shimano/abu/lews reel but for the price its far better than others I've seen. It definitely has the cranking power needed. The reel comes pre-spooled which I recommend changing but other than that its a very nice catfish combo.

A great rod and reel combo that doesn't hurt the bank. Scored three catfish over 10lbs on it in heavy current and the fight was great. Not too hard not too easy. Reel is a great one for the money. Love everything about both. Just be ready dis this thing is BIG

Very nice catfish rod/reel combo. Reel looks like a KastKing model. Powerful drag and reeling functions. Anyone wanting a catfish rod at a good price can't go wrong with this one.
