What's the difference between Rival 710 and older Rival 700?

700 has a normal third party optical sensor, while the 710 has their own incredibly accurate sensor.

CPI is actually the correct measurement. So it is 16,000 CPI. Basically, DPI & CPI are used interchangeably by many people which can cause some confusion since they are technical different (sometimes). Here's a quick excerpt regarding the difference. It basically refers to the sensitivity of the mouse, used to determine how much distance the mouse covers on the screen related to the physical movement of the mouse. Dots Per Inch or DPI, on the other hand, is a measure of spatial printing or video dot density. It signifies the number of individual dots that can be placed in a line within the span of one inch. In other words, DPI is used to describe the resolution number of dots per inch in a digital print. It also refers to the printing resolution of a hard copy print dot gain.
