I underrated door closers until our office door closer in the shop went out. This Hawaminent closer was ordered to replace the unit and we had hoped for a seamless exchange. With the first view of these unit, it appeared durable and built to last. After I assembled all the necessary components and removed the old, this went in like it was special ordered for our needs. The adjustment quality was precise and the instructions were complete in their advice. After adjustment, the 5 second close standard was easy to achieve as was my requirement for a smooth, quiet yet secure door close. This unit is advertised as medium.heavy and definitely with our heavy built solid core door, this was accurate. This door closer functions correctly,quietly and completely every time ! RECOMMEND FULLY ! This was actually a very quick and easy swap - and it still looks VERY good on our door. 5 stars all the way!

This is an interesting product. If you judge it by the box it comes in or the very thin sheet of "instructions", you would probably assume it's crap. But once you take a look at the actual closer itself and feel how hefty it is, you'll probably be a bit more impressed. It's like they spent all their money on the product and then had to scrape up some pennies to make the box and "instruction" sheet. This is advertised as a Grade 1 closer, and they mean it. It is seriously heavy-duty. I'm using it for a very heavy mostly steel door in my workshop area. I'd estimate it weighs about 300 lbs. This closer has no issues with it at all. The build quality is high, and you can tell just by holding it. It's heavy. The adjustments are also nice, offering a wide range of customizing. All of the included hardware is decent quality as well. I didn't particularly like the finish, though. It wasn't poorly done, but it just looks a bit unrefined compared to most closers I see. Now, on to the "instructions"... they shouldn't be called that really. It's more like a reference sheet. A cheatsheet in a way? It doesn't really tell you how to install this thing. It just gives you some info about how to configure the door and such, which is important and helpful, but it's not a complete instruction set. I've used many closers before so I didn't need them, but if you are new to closers and intend to rely on the instructions included, you may have a more difficult time with this one. As far as value, this doesn't currently have a listed price, but at the time of my order, it was $100. That's not cheap, of course, but for a Grade 1 closer that actually performs, it's reasonable. I think it's a bit high for this specific closer considering the lackluster instructions. You can probably find a similar quality closer for the same price that has better instruction/documentation. If I were to order another Grade 1 closer, that's what I would be doing. If half stars were supported for ratings, this would be a 3.5. But since they're not, I'm rounding up to 4. I don't want to punish the otherwise high-quality product too much for the instructions issue, especially because I didn't personally need them.

I used this to keep the exterior door to my screened in porch closed. The price was great. This door closer is easy install and to adjust for your specific needs. Once ininstalled it, and had it adjusted the way I wanted, it works great and saves me money because the door is t standing open for extended periods of time.

This is a beastly heavy duty door closer that makes my other door closer look like a toy. I put a medium light duty one on my hallway door that went up easy and works great. I didn't know it could be better. I didnt know. Now I know there are beastly mega door closer that laugh in the face of heavy doors with mega hinges. Installing this sigma chad door closer was easier than taking a shower. It took 10 minutes to bring the essence of Zeus into my house as this door closer took my garage man door and moved it like it was a feather. When it was closed, you didn't know it happened. All was closed as if none were ever opened. The door closer gods smiled down and were satisfied with this closing.

This thing feels seriously heavy-duty right out of the box. At about six pounds, it’s not some flimsy home closer, it’s built for commercial or industrial use. The body is solid aluminum, the arm feels like forged steel, well, not actual, but you know... Once it’s mounted, it looks clean and professional. It wouldn’t look out of place in an office, but it also fits right in on a warehouse or shop door. Installation wasn’t hard, but the instructions were super technical, really more like reading a CAD drawing than a step-by-step guide. All the hardware was included, though nothing was labeled, so it took a little figuring out. I mounted mine on the pull side of a steel door using the regular arm setup. Since it was my first time installing a closer, it was a bit of a pain to hold in place and align everything, but it came together fine. Once installed, the action is smooth and consistent. It is really heavyweight and you can tell it is made well. I am not completely sure how strong the metal is, but it seems okay. For the price, this thing is awesome. It works smooth and solid. If you are looking for a good deal on a heavy duty door closer, here it is. Try it out and you will be impressed. Instructions seem easy to follow.

I ordered this door closer with the intention to use it in a trailer door. However, it seems that I will not be able to because of space constraints. However, this product seem to be of similar quality of the ones I have in the convenience store I manage. Installation is straight forward. The closer has gradual power settings (can be adjusted from 1 to 6). And it's UL listed and comply with certain certifications and fire rating. While it can be used in a household, it's exhibits commercial quality.
