Well built, great value for money and does what it is designed to do
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I bought this to shred as much garden waste at my mothers garden as humanly possible. Obviously at the price point we all know this device is going to have it's limitations. Of course it will merrily shred branches/logs up to the size stated. Cleverly the aperture in which you pass the branches, is also the maximum branch size, so, in theory, it should be hard to overload. To clarify some of the comments about assembly, yes, it is a little tricky and they aren't the best, but, unpack everything, make a cup of tea, study the instructions and assess the components you have in front of you. There's not a lot to it. It's not rocket science. I will admit that it is very heavy though. Best thing. Flatten the box. Lay the unit on it's side during assembly. Simple. Just pay particular attention to the little prong/fork on the collection box. If that is UP, and you try using brute force to jam the collection box in (not realising what the little fork is for), you will bend it and then render the fail safe (ie CUT OFF) active and the unit won't work. The little fork pushes into a switch underneath the unit so that once the collecting box is attached and the catch has been thrown up to lock the box in place, the machine knows that no ones fingers can accidentally go up underneath near the mechanism. All pretty clever really. Performance is as the reviews would lead you to believe. Lovely dry wood with either no foliage or very dried out foliage creates a wonderful wood chip. Damp, leafy, stringy (Ivy for example), not the same. You will see in my video that I was doing a mixture really. Makes a nice mix I think. All goes back on my mums garden. I'd imagine it would have composted down significantly within a year. Definitely better than a trip to the dump. And bizarrely very addictive using this machine. Once you have finished, and that's normally sooner rather than later, you find yourself looking for more things to shred. I find that long branches work best because they tend to drag themselves and any tiny branches through in one hit. Small bits n bobs aren't quite as good and can tend to get stuck (flailing around in the bottom of the device but not getting dragged through the shredder), but, clearing the chute and underneath is easy (the unit won't run when the box is out so there is no danger of injury). Alternatively I regularly find that a good long branch will generally drag any stragglers through with it and clear out any leaves or short bits from the hopper. Machine feels incredibly well built. It is heavy. Feels like it will last a long time. There were comments regards seized motors. Follow the instructions on the side of the unit, regards slackening off the shredding adjuster prior to first usage. This adjusts the blade distance, obviously don't run it first time with the blades as close to one another as possible. Tighten it up. Slacken off half a turn. Try it. Then tweak to suit your requirements without overloading the machine. Again, not rocket science. I reckon I make 4-5 full boxes of mulch per hour easy. The machine works faster than me anyway. I'd recommend this item.

Excellent Chipper - Atrocious Assembly & Operating Manual
This is a well made, sturdy machine, easily moved around on its two wheels, with a slide-in debris container set underneath its steel support frame. It has plenty of safety features which includes an interlock connection between the debris container and chipping unit, preventing use without the container being in place. A side hand wheel allows adjustment of the gap between the rotary chipper blade block and it's stationary anvil, allowing adjustment for size and type of chips and material. It's a powerful 'mincing machine'. I have marked it down a star due to the atrocious installation and operating manual - one of the worst that I have ever encountered, having an incorrect parts list, poor and missing assembly instructions and drawings, and most importantly, totally incorrect operating instructions. Once you've managed to work out how the unit is correctly attached to the support frame (it is heavy and fiddly to connect the two together) to allow suspension of the debris container and its interlock, and worked out the correct method of adjusting the cutter block, then it does work well!

Top quality shredder at a very good price!
A super heavily built shredder with an enormous powerful motor. It has a low revving induction motor that should last a lifetime. My Alko rotating bladed shredder is 35 yrs old and still works like new! The person who said their motor had seized probably had the blade adjustment too tight which will stop the motor and cut the machine out. I bought this machine because I have a big garden and I bought the Ryobi crusher shredder also so I'd have 2 machines. The Tacklife is heavier than the Ryobi. They are both identical in the way they work. They are both fantastic machines. So now I have a spinning blade shredder which is great for straight wood, ferns etc. and this Tacklife and the Ryobi which are great for branches that are not straight. The good thing about the Tacklife and the Ryobi is that they pull the branches into the machine. The spinning blade ones don't pull the branches in and you have to push them down yourself. I am very pleased with this Tacklife machine which has a lot of good reviews on Youtube. These shredders are all German machines so they are all well built. The one with a bad review surprisingly is the Makita which is over £500!

Mrs Not Green Fingers!!
Okay, in lockdown this has been a lifesaver for me! Huge garden and no bin collections. I'm no gardener and have never used any power tools. Easy ensemble. Chopped down large hedges and over the weeks used this to mush up branches and then made paths through my garden. It's not a look that everyone would like but we do, also little bugs do and my garden has never been so full of birds. Once lockdown is over I will happily continue with this gardening malarkey thanks to this chopper

Does exactly what it says on the tin!
I have reduced two mature copper beech trees down to trunk & main boughs. This machine worked tirelessly and effortlessly. Once I had realised that the collection box needs to be emptied before it is totally full to avoid 'back clogging' it ran for about 12 hours over two days without a hitch. It is all that I hoped it would be. I am absolutely thrilled with it.

TackLife garden shredder
After assembly found out does not work tried everything still no luck. But the company is was very good and gave me a full refund, and was told to keep the one that didn't work the problem i have is living in a small ground floor flat and getting somebody to take it away is my major concern. But cannot fault the company who supplied the shredder.

Gobbles garden waste
I'm addicted to this thing - keep looking for things to shove in it. It's reduced a mountain of brash to an easily manageable pile. Ideally I would have liked it to shred a bit finer - it's mashed it up, but a bit too big to use as mulch. However, I'll compost it now (no chance before) and use it for mulch in a year or so. If you have a green bin, it's ideal.
